Global Production Software Market Growing at 9.9% Compound Annual Growth Rate

Press release from the issuing company

(Weymouth, MA) March 7, 2006 -- InfoTrends, a leading market research and consulting company in the digital imaging and document solutions industries, announces the release of two new annual market forecasts focused on the production workflow software market. Forecasts show continued global growth driven by industry transformation. InfoTrends expects the global production software market to demonstrate a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 9.9%, moving from $6.2 billion in 2004 to $10 billion in 2009. At the same time, we believe that this 9.9% CAGR does not tell the whole story about a market that has a combination of mature categories that depress overall growth and other segments with strong growth. “We expect to see those segments that contribute to service provider super-efficiency or value-added services to grow the most quickly,” notes Holly Muscolino, Director of InfoTrends’ Production Workflow Solution consulting service. “And new categories, such as hybrid offset-digital workflow, are projected to grow extremely fast, albeit from a very small base.” North America represented the largest geographical market for print production workflow software in 2004, accounting for almost half (46%, $2.8 billion) of all revenues. Western Europe accounted for over one-third of revenues (34%, $2.1 billion). Japan was the next largest market, although it represented only 10% of the market with a value of just over $0.6 billion. InfoTrends’ new forecasts on the production software market build on the landmark multi-client study released in 2004 entitled The Global Print Production Workflow Market: Enabling Fundamental Business Change in Graphic Arts. This study was a first-ever comprehensive analysis of the print production-related software market. Due to the rising importance of this market, InfoTrends is now dedicated to sizing and forecasting the production software market on an annual basis.
