IPEX will be another important milestone for Oce

Press release from the issuing company

Brentwood, Essex, February 28, 2006- Oce, one of the world's leading suppliers of high quality innovative products and services for the professional printing and document management industry, will be showing a series of 'world firsts' as part of its innovative plans at IPEX in Birmingham from April 4-11. Océ last week announced its 'Print Innovation through Convergence' strategy that will also be the central theme on its stand - number G50-51 in Hall 1. IPEX will be the first public platform for the global launch for Océ's latest innovations in Professional Printing - and this will include the unveiling of a new system that will involve a 'quantum leap in digital printing' for both the transactional, commercial and book printing markets. At IPEX, Océ will demonstrate how its customers can increase the return on investment on their production devices, increasing the utilisation of their print capacity. Some examples of this are: printing single or multiple spot colour, and mono application cost effectively on the same hardware. Future developments will also involve printing full colour. Accepting transactional, variable publishing and traditional applications within the same workflow, printing security products, for example cheques, and standard print on the same device. IPEX leads with innovation at the heart of the campaign. With Océ's strap line of Print Innovation Through Convergence, the company points out it is best placed to open up conversations to re-enforce Océ as a key player within digital printing. Among the new products will be the Océ VarioStream 9230, which covers the next progression in Colour on Demand. It delivers up to 3/3 printing-black plus two more Océ CustomTones on both sides of the web. It is the only digital printing system able to print 3/3, 2/2 and 1/1 interchangeably. That makes it the ideal professional colour solution because it lets you switch between different colours and different resolutions to give you more control over productivity and costs. The heart of this technology is a black and white single-pass duplex printer that is prepared for the integration of up to four colour stations. Together with the Oce FlexiDark feature users can adapt the optical appearance of the output to the market standards and requirements of various applications. In addition, the Océ Colour Production Tandem allows managed growth into new colour opportunities, whether you're an offset printer, digital print provider or in-house printroom. It is a high-end, high production digital printing system. By combining two or more Océ Colour Production Systems you get additional production flexibility with the highest possible colour consistency and always have a backup to depend on. Digital production printing and wide-ranging software solutions will be the cornerstone of Océ's presence at the show, focusing on how customers can generate increased profits through advanced technology pioneered by the company. Océ will have a number of live demonstrations that will reinforce its position as a complete systems solutions provider for the graphic arts industry. Solutions for the market will cover the PoD, Data Processing and Wide Format printing solutions with more than a dozen systems on display that will include cut-sheet, continuous web, colour and wide format technology. Apart from the VarioStream, Océ's offering will also include the Océ VarioPrint 2110, Océ VarioPrint 5000 Advanced, Océ CPS900, Océ VarioStream 9000, Océ VarioStream 7000 and the Océ TCS500. The TCS500 is the world's fastest colour CAD plotter. Océ's award-winning PRISMA software architecture, which provides workflow automation for multiple platforms, will also be demonstrated. The company will be holding its Media Conference at Ipex on Friday, April 7 at 9.30am. Nico Kooy, Managing Director of Océ (UK) Ltd, said: "We will have two 'world firsts' on our stand that will have a major impact in the marketplace. They will be part of our digital printing and software solutions that will demonstrate how customers can generate higher profits." He added: "Oce's commitment to the print industry is stronger than ever, as has been seen with many recent initiatives, including acquisitions of other companies. Our presence at Ipex will be another defining moment in the long and proud history of Océ."
