With exceptional accuracy and repeatability - delivered reliably and consistently - ECRM violet CTP products facilitate higher print quality and economic low runs, with significant cost and time benefits to makereadies. Overall, they optimize the benefits of violet technology to offer industry-leading combinations of speed, value and cost of ownership. “Where IPEX 2002 established violet CTP as a practical alternative to thermal offerings, this years exhibition is a real opportunity to show why it has become the technology of choice,” states Derek Sizer, Vice President, EMEA. “With a history of delivering ‘no-nonsense’ imaging solutions and with over 1000 CTP installations worldwide, ECRM will demonstrate the ultimate-value in violet technology, which provides reliability, ease-of-use and low cost of ownership with no compromise in quality”. Commercial Solutions The ECRM commercial portfolio has been designed to meet the needs of the B1, B2 and B3 printer, providing products ranging from an entry-level 2-page platesetter to an eight-up CTP solution. MAKO 2 Providing the ideal transition into CTP, MAKO 2 is a cost-effective, entry-level, violet platesetter configurable for multiple press sizes. Designed to be as easy to use as the contact frame it replaces, MAKO 2 represents the best value for money in its class. New MAKO System CTP Available with either a 4-page format, or as a 2-page CTP system with an upgrade path to 4-page capability, the new MAKO System series is designed for printers that anticipate business growth. In its 4-page form, the MAKO System 4 accommodates the widest range of 2- and 4-page presses. The maximum plate size of 24.2" x 29.3" (615 mm x 745 mm) gives generous space for oversize jobs such as 6-page gatefolds, with all printers’ marks and color bars in position. Combined with the operational benefits of a straight-through plate path, the MAKO System 4 delivers a robust speed of 20 plus Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 plates per hour at 2540 dpi. For added piece of mind, MAKO System CTP products come with a standard two-year warranty and the upgrade from 2- to 4- page formats is accomplished as a field upgrade to minimise disruption. New MAKO System 4x The MAKO System 4x is the latest evolution in MAKO CTP imaging. It utilizes next generation patented optical technology that delivers higher levels of imaging accuracy. The System 4x also employs an autopinch/auto-image feature for true hands-free operation after initial plate positioning. Combining reliability - backed by a three year warranty - with an expanded format capability, the MAKO System 4X consistently images plates for a wide range of press formats from 228mm x 252 mm (8.9" x 9.9") up to 660 mm x 960 mm (26.0" x 37.8"). It offers resolution sets from 1200-3556 dpi and images over 20 Speedmaster 74 plates per hour at 2540 dpi. The System 4x is one of the first violet CTP devices in the world that offers customers a clear path for moving to processless technology, when available. This transition means that the System 4x is future-proof, enabling customers to be ready to take advantage of those efficiencies achievable in cost and timesavings, while still capable of imaging conventional violet plates. New MAKO 4matic For printers looking for ultimate timesavings, increased press utilization, cost-effective productivity and rapid return on investment, ECRM offers the new MAKO4matic. The automated MAKO4matic combines proven imaging technology with a straight-through plate path and end-to-end automation, including a new online punching capability. In line with many ECRM innovations, the new online punching system has a unique design, which delivers flexibility and cost savings. It uses one set of punches to achieve multiple configurations, with press notches positioned at any point on the grip edge of the plate. Supplied with four punch dyes (2 x Bacher and 2 x Komori), the automatic system can accommodate almost all popular punching configurations on plate sizes up to 635 mm x 927 mm (25.0" x 36.5"). Online punching improves overall productivity and provides excellent repeatability and easy plate mounting, with subsequent shorter makereadies. MAKO 8 Ideal for a multi-press environments, the MAKO8 can image violet photopolymer or silver halide plates up to 45” x 32.4” (1143 mm x 824 mm), offering ultimate flexibility for small to medium sized repro houses and printers. With an integrated registration system and the ability to cover all formats from 2 to 8 pages, the MAKO8 is the most cost effective, eight-up CTP imaging product on the market today. Newspaper Solutions All ECRM newspaper CTP products are specifically designed for compatibility with a wide range of press cut-offs and the option to expose both broadsheet and panorama plates. The centerpiece of the range is the NEWSmatic, which allows unattended production of up to 80 broadsheet pages per hour. NEWSmatic has a variety of cassette and slip-sheet removal options. It operates in multi-tasking mode, RIRping, imaging and processing at the same time to provide the capacity for peak production periods of small to mid-sized newspapers. For larger newspapers, several NEWSmatics can be supplied with an automated load-sharing facility. In all cases, each platesetter is supplied with its own RIP and CtServer, giving easy integration into front-end networks without additional hardware. Derek concludes, “We are dedicated to giving our customers the highest value in imaging quality. Our product portfolio continues to grow to accommodate the changing needs of the market. IPEX provides the ideal opportunity to show the strength and depth of our current ranges for newspaper and commercial printers, and to gather market feedback on new opportunities for violet imaging including processless production.”
