Mark Flannery Is Recipient of 2005 Schaeffer Environmental Award

SEWICKLEY, PA., February 8, 2006—Printing Industries of America /Graphic Arts Technical Foundation ( PIA/GATF ) has announced Mark J. Flannery of the Printing Industries of New England, Southborough , Massachusetts , as the recipient of its 2005 William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award. The award, named for former GATF research director and pioneering environmental advocate William Schaeffer, recognizes individuals who have unselfishly made significant contributions toward environmental awareness, education, and best practices in the printing and graphic communications industry. Flannery has served as director of environmental affairs and safety at Printing Industries of New England (PINE) since June 1997. Flannery is well known as the leading source of information for print and graphic communications companies throughout New England . As part of his many duties, he helped member companies maintain compliance in light of evolving state and federal environmental and safety regulations. He has consistently demonstrated a proactive approach to help members maintain and enhance a safe workplace for their employees and the local environment. As a supporter of Mark Flannery, Gerorge C. Frantz, experimental projects coordinator, EPA New England, said, “Flannery's accomplishments provide a steady and persuasive voice representing the printing industry to the various government regulatory agencies.” While numerous activities attest to Flannery's dedication to commitment and leadership below are a just a few examples of the work he does on a regular basis. •  Seminars •  On-site consultations •  Information sharing •  Speaking at the National Environmental Health and Safety Conference Flannery will be honored at a luncheon during the National Environmental Health and Safety Conference, Tuesday, March 28, 2006 , at the Marriott, Indianapolis , Indiana . The engraved Schaeffer Environmental Award plaque will be presented to him at this time.
