Agfa Graphics to Show :Apogee PrintDrive LE at Ipex

Press release from the issuing company

London, UK – 22 February 2006 – Agfa Graphics announced today that it will demonstrate its latest addition to the acclaimed :Apogee PrintDrive assortment at Ipex (Birmingham, UK, 4-11 April). :Apogee PrintDrive LE provides a cost-effective interface between non-Agfa workflows and a wide range of Agfa platesetters, filmsetters, proofing devices, and the latest plate technologies. :Apogee PrintDrive LE offers unique tools to manage and control 'digital films' prior to output. It connects the prepress department with the press room, functioning as a 'digital light table'. PrintDrive LE features 'OpenConnect', which provides an easy way to import 1-bit TIFF and DCS Copy Dot files. If needed, imported files can be descreened, down-sampled and colour-managed for colour-accurate output to any of the supported proofing devices such as the :Grand SherpaMatic. Because the workflow does not end with plate or film output, :Apogee PrintDrive LE can automate production even further downstream by integrating the press via CIP3. Using the 'InkDrive' option, ink keys for a wide range of leading presses are set automatically, significantly reducing press make-ready time. In addition, the optional 'WebGrowth' function takes specific press characteristics into account to create profiles for any press. These profiles can be applied to compensate for any press registration errors caused by paper stretching due to ink and water absorption, pressure or tension. Leaving the original digital film untouched, compensation is only applied during output to any Agfa device without compromising proofing. :Apogee PrintDrive LE is available immediately in 4-up and 8-up versions. To anticipate business growth and new workflow production needs, :Apogee PrintDrive LE can be upgraded to :Apogee PrintDrive to provide access to an extensive set of digital film management tools, scaling capabilities, distributed processing, VLF support, load balancing, plate pairing, dual plate support, and much more.
