California newspaper chooses Goss packaging system

Press release from the issuing company

April 3rd, 2006 – The Inland Valley News Bulletin in Ontario, California will add a new Goss packaging system to manage growth in insert advertising volume, speed up production and enhance zoning capabilities. The newspaper will install a Goss NP642 system with 25 stations and dual-delivery capability in late 2006. Goss will also supply Omnizone supervisory controls. “Our preprint ad volume is growing at five to six percent per year,” explains Jim Robb, director of operations. “The new technology will address this volume increase while also allowing us to offer our advertisers more precise zoning options.” The Goss NP642 system operates at up to 25,000 copies per hour in single-delivery mode and 50,000 papers per hour in dual-delivery mode. Robb says the high speed will be important in shortening the production window and allowing earlier delivery of the paper. “Previous experience gives us confidence in this technology, and we were impressed with the customized approach Goss took to designing a system around our particular needs,” according to Robb. The Omnizone supervisory controls were selected to streamline production data management and to address growing ABC audit requirements to track and record production statistics for zoned inserts, he adds. The Inland Valley News Bulletin is part of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, a group of eight community titles published by the MediaNews Group. ‘Goss’, the Goss logo, ‘Goss International’ ‘NP642’ and ‘Omnizone’ are registered trademarks or trademarks of Goss International Corporation.
