STAMFORD, Conn.--Feb. 17, 2006-- Xerox Corporation's board of directors yesterday elected Maggie Wilderotter to the board. Wilderotter is chairman and chief executive officer of Citizens Communications, a full-service communications provider of telephone, television, and Internet products and services. Wilderotter joined Citizens Communications in 2004 as president and chief executive officer. She was named chairman of the company in January of this year. Prior to Citizens Communications, Wilderotter was senior vice president of worldwide public sector at Microsoft. She has also served as president and CEO of Wink Communications Inc., as well as executive vice president of national operations for AT&T Wireless Services Inc. and chief executive officer of AT&T's aviation communications division. Earlier in her career, she was a senior vice president of McCaw Cellular Communications Inc. "Maggie is an exceptional leader with a proven track record of bringing innovative, technology-based solutions to market," said Anne M. Mulcahy, Xerox chairman and chief executive officer. "Her experience and strong leadership skills will serve Xerox and its shareholders well and complement the outstanding talent serving on our board." A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, where she is a trustee and earned a bachelor's degree in economics and business administration, Wilderotter serves on the board of directors of The McClatchy Co. and Quantum Corp. Her election to the Xerox board is effective March 1. In related news, Xerox said today that Stephen Robert, a current member of the company's board of directors and the finance committee of the board, has decided not to stand for re-election at this year's annual meeting of shareholders. Robert, who is chancellor of Brown University and chairman and CEO of Renaissance Institutional Management LLC, was elected to the Xerox board in 2004. His decision not to stand for re-election is related to his increased and additional business obligations With these pending changes, the 11-member Xerox board would remain about 90 percent independent. Mulcahy serves as the company's only employee director.
