Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG) Announces Partnership with Graphitec/Convertec 2006

Press release from the issuing company

February 14, 2006 – Ghent, Belgium - The Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG), an international organization of graphic arts industry associations, vendors, and observers, established to create, evaluate, and disseminate best practices, standards and specifications for publishing workflows; will play an active role at Graphitec/Convertec 2006, taking place in Paris at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre, March 15-18, 2006. This event is a major exposition for the French-speaking graphic industries. The Ghent PDF Workgroup was established in June 2002 and is an international association of graphic industry professionals from all over the world. GWG's role is to produce recommendations to ensure the quality and reliability of “printable” PDF files. Its work has resulted in the PDF/X-Plus specifications, which have been widely adopted as a preferred file format by professionals throughout the graphic production cycle. GWG members Agfa, Artwork Systems, CGS, Dalim, Enfocus, Kodak, Heidelberg and Screen will exhibit at Graphitec/Convertec 2006 and will be demonstrating how their solutions implement the PDF/X-Plus specifications. During Graphitec/Convertec 2006, Exposium (exhibition organizer) will also offer visitors an exciting new demonstration experience in the form of “expert tours”. Guided by a specialist, participants will be able to learn everything there is to know about digital proofing and JDF. The "digital proofing" tour will be led by PDF expert Pascale Ginguené, a member of the Ghent PDF Workgroup, and will include a ‘live’ test of the latest solutions offered by exhibitors with the use of the ‘Ghent Output Suite’. This innovative tool has been under development by the GWG RIP/Output subcommittee for the last year and offers an easy way to test and evaluate PDF reading and writing applications. This multi-facetted partnership promises to be highly beneficial to all visitors. Graphitec/Convertec 2006, March 15 – 18, 2006, Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre, Paris.
