EPG Introduces "Keycolor T" Compact Integrated Color Control System

Press release from the issuing company

Centerbrook, CT (February 14, 2006) - EPG (Essex Products Group), a global supplier of integrated color control systems, announces the addition of the KeyColor T System to its KeyColor line of remote ink control systems designed to save printers time and money. The KeyColor T is a compact, economical ink control system that provides user-friendly, computerized, touch screen control of fountain ink keys for sheetfed or web applications. With the KeyColor T System, press operators are able to rapidly adjust ink key settings from a central, streamlined ink desk to speed makeready and reduce waste. End users include newspaper, commercial, and packaging printers who realize savings in labor, ink, and materials, such as paper, paperboard, and metal. When combined with AutoSet presetting software, the KeyColor T system enables digital data from an image setter or CTP system to preset all ink keys for even faster makeready. The KeyColor T can also interface with color-measuring devices to provide closed-loop color solutions for both web and sheetfed presses. "Limited installation space is no longer an obstacle when selecting a remote ink control system," says Peter Griffin, president, EPG. "Printers who need to increase makeready speeds and reduce waste, yet who require a system with a small footprint, now have a solution with the KeyColor T System." Using a menu-driven, MS Windows-style operator display, the KeyColor T System is designed to be easy to learn and to use. Operators can quickly access all system functions through drop down menus on the display screen. Simplified controls assure ease of operation and reliability of service. The conveniently mounted touch screen provides clear and accurate monitoring of ink key settings. KeyColor T systems can store thousands of jobs on an internal hard drive for rapid makeready of repeat work. On multi-web presses, use of multiple KeyColor T Ink Desks enable several operators to set color simultaneously during makeready. Networking allows any fountain to be controlled from any desk. If desired, a single desk can then be used to maintain color through the balance of the run. KeyColor T Systems incorporate gasket-sealed "Smart Fountain" technology that can be rapidly mounted on an existing press. EPG ink keys can control solid or segmented blades as well as sliding blocks. The interface is a single six-wire cable from the ink desk to the fountain. Advanced engineering permits the KeyColor T System to be configured to meet specific requirements. The simplicity of design assures rapid installation. The KeyColor modular design allows for ease of maintenance. Every system includes a modem which allows EPG engineers to dial in to a system to upgrade software and for online support.
