GMG appoints Compugrafia, Inc. as distributor in Brazil

Press release from the issuing company

Norwell, MA (February 3, 2005) – GMG Americas, the US office of GMG, a Germany-based company specializing in high-end color management and proofing solutions, today announces that Compugrafia, Inc will distribute its products exclusively in Brazil. Founded 1995 by two partners, Miami-based Compugrafia has been dedicated to serving digital imaging professionals—including service bureaus, imaging centers, prepress houses, printers, digital media providers, design studios, and newspapers. The company sells through associates and partners, including Starlaser, Electronic Imaging Integration, Prepress Accessoria Grafica and ELO Graphics, who work in partnership with local sales teams throughout Brazil. Compugrafia deploys local technical staff to not only help in the selling process, but to provide customers support and maintenance. The printing industry in Brazil has experienced substantial growth during the last two years. Compugrafia has a particular strength in understanding the specific factors that are driving this growth and how they differ in other Latin American countries. In particular, printers in Brazil are aware of increasing competition by businesses without industry knowledge, and the resultant substantial drop of ‘process’ exercised by many companies. “There are no other software solutions like GMG products in Brazil,” remarks Valeria DeLima of Compugrafia. “We have demonstrated to many facilities that, in the end, GMG has a better product and cost-competitive solution.” Compugrafia and its dealers have already put into operation some impressive installations. Brazilian customers using GMG ColorProof include Burti, ArtPress, VM Comunicacoes, Seven Lines and Ed. Victoria Books, among others. Specifically, Burti and ArtPress have been very complimentary about their experience with GMG ColorProof: Burti tested a number of different proofing systems before it selected GMG ColorProof for the superior results it achieved with Epson printers. Also, Burti technicians informed Compugrafia that the GMG Profile Editor was the best tool to generate profiles and conduct color management, using the system’s unique 4D technology. Artpress - purchased an 8-up GMG ColorProof system for their Epson 9600 printer. After substantial testing with a number of competitive software packages, Artpress decided GMG ColorProof gave them superior results and the important resources that were not found in the other software solutions. ArtPress customers have also told them that they are very pleased with the quality of GMG ColoProof proofs. “Compugrafia has an excellent reputation for providing exceptional support directly to local dealers,” comments Jim Summers, President of GMG Americas. “They do a great job providing support and the logistical details to ensure that product is shipped correctly to the customer, allowing dealers to focus on their business of selling product. Compugrafia arranged for training to ensure dealers had all the expertise they needed to support local customers. We are confident that they will promote and support GMG products with the same level of excellence that GMG is known for.”
