Rocky Mountain Printing Installs Second Komori Press

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, February 2, 2006 -- Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced Rocky Mountain Printing, a full-service commercial print provider for retail and network marketing industries, has recently installed its second Komori press, a six-color Lithrone S40 perfector with coater. The two Komori presses replace four existing Heidelberg presses. With the installation of the new Komori press, Rocky Mountain Printing is experiencing a faster time to market due to the flexibility, intuitive technology and speed of the Komori Lithrone S40P. Key drivers in the decision to add another Komori press included the company’s positive experience with Komori’s after-sale commitment to customers, the computerized makeready capabilities of the press and its closed loop color control system. Komori’s fully automatic plate changing system (Full-APC) changes all six plates in less than four minutes at the touch of a button. Ink, blanket and impression cylinder cleaning are also fully automated. Rocky Mountain reports that the fast makeready these attributes provide makes it possible for customers to wait onsite for press checks, saving time and providing a speed-to-market important to the retail markets it serves. The ability of the press to meet complex color needs and deliver a color consistency that ensures superb print quality is an additional benefit as a large part of the company’s print jobs are for the retail scrapbook market—a market segment noted for its use of color and creativity. “After we purchased our first Komori LS press, we were impressed by its efficiency. Then we purchased our second press, the Komori LS40P, which is more than twice as efficient as our previous presses—enabling us to completely replace four existing Heidelberg presses,” said Teague Bengtzen, president and co-owner of Rocky Mountain Printing. “Our Komori presses are workhorses. They constantly produce while consistently running at top speed. Plus, the advanced automation of the Komori Lithrone S40P means the press does most of the work instead of depending on the speed of the operator. This has significantly increased our productivity and accelerated turnaround time for our customers.” The dramatic production capacity of the Komori Lithrone S40 perfector is made possible by the Komori double circumference, three cylinder configuration. This cylinder configuration results in a smooth, consistent sheet path that substantially reduces the sheet damage inherent in conventional perfectors. This results in less waste and faster job turnaround, which is vital to Rocky Mountain Printing’s deadline-intensive business. The addition of the coating unit adds value to the quality of print the company can produce, making it possible to offer applications with metallic coating and other special inks and substrates. “With time to market being so critical in today’s business world, the fact that Rocky Mountain Printing is gaining a competitive edge with the addition of its second Komori press is very satisfying,” said Paul Peyrebrune, vice president of sales for Komori’s Western Region. “The ability to make the print process easier for customers while improving workflow is at the heart of what Komori presses are designed to deliver. We are pleased that Rocky Mountain Printing is taking full advantage of all the benefits the Komori Lithrone S40P has to offer.”
