Thailand's Oldest English Newspaper Publisher Goes CtP with Agfa's :Polaris

Press release from the issuing company

The Post is embarking on an expansion programme to mark the company's 60th anniversary in 2006. Part of this programme is building a new plant that will house its new KBA web-offset presses and the :Polaris CtP systems. After extensive research, The Post decided that only Agfa's prepress solutions offered what the company needed. What was found to be most appealing were the :Polaris' established track record as a quality work-horse, the advanced screening technology, :Sublima, and Agfa's technical support. "The Post looked at certain criteria. :Polaris is a proven product, worldwide. The design of its imaging technology is simple and yet very accurate. Other newspaper CtP systems have more complicated parts. The attractive part about the :Polaris is the speed and resolution is upgradeable, allowing room for future needs without having to invest heavily. The :Sublima screening technology will also enable us to print at higher quality," The Post's Mr. Lersak, Production Director said. "The Post, like thousands of other publishers around the world, has leveraged violet thanks to the very low cost of maintenance," said Hans Gerinckx, director of newspaper sales for Agfa Graphics worldwide. "Most of all, The Post is confident that :Sublima will provide the high quality print that will enable the company to stay ahead of the competition." The support of Agfa and its Thai partner, Berli Jucker Co. (BJC), was also instrumental to The Post's decision. Agfa/BJC has demonstrated an ability to successfully support the demanding newspaper market. Agfa's violet CtP systems for newspapers includes the :Polaris line of platesetters. :Polaris X imaging offer a wide range of speeds, with the ability to image multiple resolutions, even during a single production run. The :Advantage line of platesetters provides an alternative solution for manual and automated CtP systems.
