Georgia-Pacific Announces Senior Leadership Team

ATLANTA, GA. January 03, 2006 -- Georgia-Pacific Corp. today announced its new senior leadership team. Joe Moeller, Georgia-Pacific's president and chief executive officer, made the announcement earlier today to the company's 55,000 employees. "During the past few months, I have gained so much respect for Georgia-Pacific's world-class brands, businesses, assets, products and, most importantly, all of the talented employees and members of the management team who I have met," said Moeller. "I am confident that we have put together a strong leadership team that leverages the core capabilities and expertise of both Georgia-Pacific and Koch Industries. "I am extremely pleased that the key senior business leaders will continue with Georgia-Pacific, leading their respective businesses. Several new members of our leadership team who are joining us from Koch Industries have significant expertise in Koch's core capabilities. These leaders will enable all of us to benefit from Koch's Market Based Management philosophy and capabilities," Moeller said. These operations and staff function leaders include: Bill Caffey, executive vice president - operations and compliance. Caffey has been with Koch Industries since 1973 and previously was a member of Koch Industries board of directors. He formerly managed operations excellence and compliance for all of Koch and was president of two Koch companies. The company's operations and compliance group includes the following functions reporting to Caffey: North American consumer products, paper and pulp manufacturing, (manufacturing for all other operations will have a dotted-line reporting relationship with Caffey); compliance, which includes safety, environmental affairs and security; engineering; procurement; operations excellence and the Manufacturing Excellence Council. Jim Hannan, executive vice president - chief administrative officer. Hannan has been with Koch companies for seven years. He has served as the president of INVISTA Intermediates, chief financial officer of Koch Mineral Services and as controller and accountant. The chief administrative officer's function includes: Market Based Management and training; chief financial officer group; information technology; the Supply Chain Excellence Council and the Support Excellence Council. Julie Brehm, senior vice president - human resources. Julie has been with Koch companies since 1983. She previously served as vice president of human resources for INVISTA and other Koch companies, and as the president of Koch Business Solutions. The human resources group includes compensation and benefits; workforce diversity and EEO; recruiting and staffing; human resources personnel for the businesses, operations and staff groups; the human resources service center, as well as all other related functions. Brehm will report to Hannan. Tye Darland, senior vice president - general counsel. Darland joined Koch Industries in 1993. He formerly served as general counsel for Koch Industries and was previously on the boards of INVISTA B.V. and Koch Cellulose. The law department will continue to include all attorneys and legal counsel for litigation, environmental, real estate, benefits, mergers and acquisitions, all of the company's businesses, intellectual property and other areas of legal expertise. Philip Ellender, senior vice president - government and public affairs. Ellender has been with Koch companies for nine years. He has served as the vice president of government affairs, communications and public affairs for INVISTA; and directed government and public affairs in the southern U.S. for Koch. The following functions will report to Ellender: corporate communications and marketing, including sales excellence, customer entertainment and event management, and graphics and printing; government affairs and regulatory policy; the Georgia-Pacific Foundation and community programs. Mark Luetters, senior vice president - supply and trading, fiber and energy. Luetters has been with Koch Industries for 16 years. Formerly, he was executive vice president of trading for Koch Carbon and held a variety of engineering and business development positions. This group includes wood and fiber procurement, Harmon, and energy and raw materials. David Park, senior vice president - strategy and business development. Park has been with Koch companies since 1994. He previously served as managing director of corporate development for Koch, the chief financial officer of Koch Canada and the president of Koch Exploration Canada. He currently serves on the board of Koch Cellulose. The company's strategy and business development group includes the following functions reporting to Park: strategic planning, and business development and optimization. Following are the senior business unit leaders and the business unit configurations, effective immediately: Mike Burandt, executive vice president - North American consumer products. Burandt has been with Georgia-Pacific for 17 years. The company's paper and bleached board businesses will be consolidated with North American consumer products. The key businesses that now will be part of North American consumer products, reporting to Burandt, include retail tissue, commercial tissue and communication papers, GP Mexico, Dixie and bleached board. Steve Klinger, executive vice president - packaging. Klinger joined Georgia-Pacific in 1982. The packaging division will be expanded to include the company's pulp business. Key business segments reporting to the packaging division include packaging operations and sales; containerboard sales, planning and logistics; the Innovation Institute; kraft sales; containerboard manufacturing; and pulp. Dave Paterson, executive vice president - building products. Paterson joined Georgia-Pacific in 1987. Alignment of the company's building products business includes wood panels, lumber, gypsum and chemical operations, sales and support. Bill Schultz, president - international consumer products. Schultz has been with Georgia-Pacific since 1997. Alignment and organizational structure within the international business remains unchanged with the addition of a chief financial officer for the business.
