Uniform Adds Superwide Ink Jet To Portfolio

Press release from the issuing company

December 13, 2005 -- A truly industrial strength superwide-format ink-jet printer has been added to the Uniform portfolio of machines and is now available from B&P Graphics Systems. Designated the Trident XL3400, this latest cost-effective solution has been engineered specifically for the high-production user who wants fast, uninterrupted output combined with reliability, speed and an excellent price/performance ratio. The four-colour solvent-based Uniform Trident has a maximum print width of 3.4 m and benefits from Xaar's proven piezo-electric technology. The incorporation of 72 print-heads means it can output at speeds of more than 158 square m/hour onto a broad range of materials including papers, banners and self-adhesive films. Designed to provide uninterrupted 24/7 operation, the 360 dpi Uniform Trident uses four 3.2 litre ink reservoirs for high-volume printing, with a high visibility status indicator to provide low ink warnings. The inclusion of peristaltic pumps and continuous filtration prevent clogging, with on-the-fly vacuum purging of the print-heads minimising maintenance. The machine's design features a tensioned feed and take-up rollers to simplify its media path, thus adding to the Trident's overall reliability. An integrated ventilation hood removes fumes, and there's an optional infra-red drying system for enhanced production. The Trident can also be used with a second media roll, offering high-speed concurrent printing onto two side-by-side 1.6 m reels. Other options include roll-to-sheet and a heavy supply and take-up facility, and connectivity is via Ethernet for easy work-flow and production via the Uniform TROOP! RIP. B&P Graphic Systems believes that the addition of the roll-fed Trident XL3400 to its Uniform family of wide-format printers is long overdue, and that this machine fulfils the needs of sign-makers, bureaux and screen-printers needing to produce superwide-format output on demand. Shipping now, the Trident is priced at £120,000 and, thus, offers a very fast ROI in a production environment. B&P's Andrew Wilson says: "This isn't a pretty machine but it's a true production work-horse which is brutally effective and does exactly what it's designed to do – print 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We'd even go as far as saying that, on a like-for-like production print setting, the Trident proves to be twice as fast as its competition."
