VUTEk Printers from EFI Used to Produce 250 Banners for Polish General Election

Press release from the issuing company

Meredith, N.H. (January 17, 2006) – Opinion, a leading Polish large format digital printing house utilized the high speed capabilities of both its VUTEk UltraVu 5300 and its newly installed UltraVu II 3360 printers from EFI to print over 250 vinyl banners for the 2005 Polish general elections. Ranging from 1 sq meter to 10m x 7m in size, the banners and mesh graphics were installed on buildings in Warsaw and other major Polish cities. Used to promote governmental and regional election candidates, the banners were designed to enhance traditional billboard advertising, increasing the effectiveness of each campaign through improved visibility and more creative design. Slawomir Krynicki, sales and marketing director, Opinion, comments, “In Warsaw today, you see screen printed billboards on every corner - the city is completely saturated. Because of this, we actively encouraged the election committees to use digitally printed banners that could be personalized and installed in more unusual and eye catching locations.” The election committees liked this idea and used Opinion’s new UltraVu II 3360 to produce frontlit and double-sided banners, while their five-meter UltraVu 5300 was employed to produce larger vinyl mesh banners, printed in panels and seamed together. All were installed on central city buildings. As the elections approached and speed became essential, the high productivity benefits of Opinion’s VUTEk printers were crucial in enabling the fast turnaround of this job. Krynicki continues, “We were working like crazy, producing banners up to five days before the elections. We were required to take orders in the evening and have it ready for installation the following morning, without compromise to print quality. The speed and reliability of our VUTEk printers provided us with the confidence to take on this job.” Image and color quality were also very important, as each banner featured a photograph of a famous Polish electoral candidate. Krynicki continues, “Using our UltraVu 5300 and UltraVu II 3360, we were able to print at 300 dpi and produce the vibrant colors, skin tones and facial details of each candidate’s photograph correctly. The job was a great success.” In the last five years, Krynicki has seen a significant development in the Polish digital printing marketing, with mass adoption of digital technology. In response to this trend, and to increase the company’s digital printing capabilities, in 2005, Opinion installed its VUTEk UltraVu II 3360. The purchase was designed to capitalize on opportunities for self-adhesive vinyl applications, and front and backlit banner sales. Krynicki concludes, “Our choice of the UltraVu II 3360 was due largely to the success of our original VUTEk purchase, but also because of the three-meter printer’s reliability benefits. We needed a machine that produces high quality prints 24 hours a day, seven days a week - the UltraVu II 3360 has met our requirements.” Opinion is one of the largest wide format digital printing houses in Poland, priding itself on a combination of quick turnaround and high quality services. With two offices in Poland and one in Germany, the company currently employs 77 people.
