Goss International Compresses Postpress Installation Schedule To Meet Daily News Of Los Angeles Deadline

Press release from the issuing company

January 16th, 2006 - The Daily News of Los Angeles completed installation of a new Goss Magnapak packaging system ahead of schedule and in time to accommodate high insert volumes during the holiday season. The 18-station shaftless inserter is used for large Sunday packages as well as daily production at the Daily News. The paper is based in Valencia, California and is distributed throughout the San Fernando Valley. “We had a tight installation plan, but Goss was actually able to beat the deadline and get us in production in time for the holiday rush,” explains Brian Dougherty, Packaging Manager. “We got the machine on November 1, had it running on November 13, and were in production the following week.” Dougherty says the Daily News chose the Goss Magnapak system based on speed, reliability and automated zoning capabilities. Peter Tassinari, Director of Newspaper Postpress Systems for Goss International, says planning, coordination and creativity were the keys to the successful installation. “This was definitely a challenge for our project management and installation resources, but we worked very closely with the Daily News and did a lot of preparation prior to shipment in order to meet the deadline,” he explains. The Daily News of Los Angeles utilizes the Goss Magnapak system to segment insert advertising by up to 130 different zip codes. The paper has a daily circulation of approximately 170,000 and a Sunday circulation of approximately 200,000.
