Presstek's Vector TX52 Highlighted at Successful Graphics Canada 2005 Show

Press release from the issuing company

HUDSON, N.H., Dec. 5 -- Presstek, Inc., a leading manufacturer and marketer of environmentally responsible high tech digital imaging solutions for the graphic arts and laser imaging markets, today reported that the company had a strong showing at Graphics Canada 2005. Graphics Canada is Canada's largest, longest running, premier trade show for the graphic arts and printing industry, attracting the full spectrum of the graphics market, from the design community to small quick printers and medium-sized facilities to the largest printing operations. This year's show provided Presstek with the opportunity to interact with more than 10,000 industry professionals representing companies from across Canada and other nations. Presstek's President and CEO Ed Marino stated, "We were delighted with the results of the Graphics Canada show. Our successful strategy of offering leading digital technology solutions was again demonstrated. Two leading indicators of this success were the customer response to our innovative Vector TX52 computer-to-plate system and our line of Direct Imaging presses. At the show, we sold the first Vector TX52's for immediate delivery to Canada. Presstek began shipping the Vector TX52 to customers in increased quantities in the fourth quarter of this year and expects to be at full production by the end of the first quarter of 2006. To date, the company has more than twenty Vector TX52's in the field." Marino continued, "Our direct sales force continues to generate high levels of interest in DI presses in Canada. There was brisk activity around the full line of DI presses at the show, and the level of customer enthusiasm for these products was very exciting." SHOW HIGHLIGHTS Vector TX52 Graphics Canada 2005 represented the first major public demonstration of the Vector TX52 specifically for the Canadian market. The Vector TX52 is a two-page chemistry-free CTP system designed to provide the short-run, small format printer with a metal platemaking platform that offers higher productivity, cleaner operation, and lower materials and production cost. The Vector's ease-of-use and compact footprint have impressed show attendees since its debut. DI Presses According to recent research from InfoTrends/CAP Ventures, DI presses represent a growth opportunity for printers that want to tap into the increasing demand for high-quality, quick-turnaround, short-run, four-color work, and provide significant margin improvements over conventional offset. Customers are attracted to the DI for many reasons, including high quality output, ease-of-use, compact size, fast make-ready and increased profitability. "Since installing the DirectPress last summer we have seen a significant increase in color work coming through the shop," said Brent Lawrence, Production Manager at Kwik Kopy Design & Print Centre in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. "Due to the increased demand for four-color printing and our improved ability to produce it, thanks to the Direct Press 5634 DI, I expect to see our revenues grow by at least 20 percent over the next couple of years. And, customers are stunned by the quality the DirectPress can produce." Other products that were featured at the show include: Dimension425 Excel The Dimension425 Excel is Presstek's four-page computer-to-plate system with semi-automatic plate loading and unloading, and a larger image size than previous models. All Presstek Dimension Excel models feature a small footprint that is ideal for smaller shops. Easy to use, install and maintain, support for the Excel is provided by Presstek's industry leading service organization. The Dimension Excel systems are offered with an annual maintenance service agreement. Dimension Excel CTP systems are optimized for Presstek's Anthem and Applause chemistry-free thermal plates. DPM 34 SC/HSC The ABDick Digital PlateMaster 34 SC/HSC is an easy-to-use, high- resolution platesetter designed for use with small-format portrait presses. This affordable direct-to-plate solution features a fully integrated Harlequin-based RIP and internal polyester plate processor. With screen rulings up to 175 lpi, the DPM34 SC/HSC is ideally suited for a wide range of applications -- from simple spot color jobs to more intricate process color work. An image area of 12.6" x 19.2" (320 x 489 mm) lets you print two-up, full-bleed. 4995A-ICS This portrait-format, four-color performance offset press is suitable for short and long runs, easily handles economical polyester-based plates, as well as metal, and runs a wide variety of stocks via a vacuum-enabled stream feeder. Momentum Workflow The Harlequin-based Momentum RIP is compatible with PostScript Level 3 and PDF 1.5 specifications and is based on Harlequin's most current RIP release. Presstek Momentum RIP 7.0 is an entry-level solution that supports Presstek's DPM, Vector and Dimension Series CTP solutions as well as Presstek-enabled DI presses. Momentum is compatible with applications that generate PDF and PDF/X files, handling those files natively for increased efficiency; offers in-RIP trapping with MTrapPro; and supports industry-standard ICC profiles with ColorPro. Facet Workflow The Presstek Facet RIP is an affordable, high-performance, digital front- end that has been developed for operation with all Presstek- and ABDick- branded digital output devices, including DI presses and Dimension, Vector TX52, and DPM platesetters. The Facet RIP is sold and supported exclusively by Presstek and is the initial product in a portfolio of digital solutions for small print enterprises. It provides the core foundation for adding advanced workflow modules and business management solutions to the operations of small commercial printers. Commenting on the show, Presstek's Vice President of North American Sales Emile Tabassi stated, "With a portfolio of digital technology products that provide high-quality, ease-of-use, increased productivity and reduced costs, the Presstek booth was a must-see for the serious Graphics Canada show attendee.
