KENNESAW, Ga. – December 1, 2005 – Heidelberg USA announces the following sample of new product installations: Commercial Graphics Boosts Productivity with Quicksetter 300E from Heidelberg Commercial Graphics, based in Angola, Ind., recently installed a Quicksetter 300E imagesetting device from Heidelberg to transition from film and metal plates to direct-to-plate processing. The new prepress equipment has increased the shop’s productivity and improved turnaround times due to the Quicksetter’s easy integration into the workflow. The Quicksetter complements the shop’s earlier acquisition of a four-color Heidelberg Quickmaster QM DI 46 direct imaging press. The shop purchased a Heidelberg consumables package with the Quicksetter, including Cristala Quickplate polyester plates and chemistry. Founded in 1985, Commercial Graphics is a family-owned and operated general commercial printer housing nine employees. Fox Valley Technical College Adds Speedmaster SM 52 to All-Heidelberg Facility Fox Valley Technical College, located in Appleton, Wis., recently installed a two-color Speedmaster SM 52 perfecting press from Heidelberg. The graphic arts program at the college uses the equipment to teach students about press operation by allowing them to print an assortment of jobs, including two-color brochures, design projects and some internal college marketing materials. Running in an all-Heidelberg instructional facility, the SM 52 was installed to demonstrate the automation and quality of multi-color small-format presses used in general commercial print shops. Established in 1975, the Graphic Arts Center at Fox Valley Technical College has gained worldwide recognition for its dedication to research and education for the printing industry. In addition to employing 10 full-time faculty members, the center typically operates with two students in work-study and internship capacities. Harvest Printing & Copy Center, Inc. Installs Quickmaster QM DI 46 Press Harvest Printing & Copy Center, Inc., based in Tallahassee, Fla., recently installed a Quickmaster QM DI 46 direct imaging press from Heidelberg to satisfy growing customer demand for four-color jobs. Since the installation, the shop’s business has increased due to its expanded presence in a growing, competitive market. Harvest Printing uses the new equipment to produce a wide range of general commercial materials, including one- and two-sided flyers, postcards, business materials, invitations and multiple-up work at approximately 10,000 sheets per hour. The Hennegan Company Installs Speedmaster SM 102 Press with CutStar Technology The Hennegan Company, based in Florence, Ky., recently added a 12-color Speedmaster 102 press with perfector from Heidelberg to increase efficiency. The most recent addition to the shop’s all-Heidelberg sheetfed pressroom is equipped with Heidelberg’s CutStar technology, an advanced feed system that utilizes sheets or rolls with adjustable cutoff. The new technology enables The Hennegan Company to handle increasingly complex and high-volume printing jobs with greater flexibility. Since the installation, the shop reports heightened enthusiasm from both clients and internal employees. Founded in 1886, The Hennegan Company is a family-owned and operated general commercial printer housing approximately 400 employees. Increases Productivity with Stitchmaster ST 90 from Heidelberg Indexx, Inc., located in Greenville, S.C., recently installed a Stitchmaster ST 90 from Heidelberg to expand its saddlestitching capabilities. Since the installation, the shop reports significant increases in speed, production and quality in its bindery due to the ST 90’s fast turnaround times and efficient operation. Indexx, Inc. uses the new stitcher to produce bound materials, such as magazines and booklets. Founded in 1994, Indexx, Inc. is a general commercial printer housing 71 employees. Increases Client Value with Heidelberg’s Prosetter 102 Lester Lithograph, Inc., based in Anaheim, Calif. since 1980, recently added a Prosetter 102 computer-to-plate system to meet growing demands for higher quality and faster deliveries. Owner Larry Lester reports that Heidelberg’s expansive service coverage was its primary motivation for upgrading the shop’s prepress equipment. With the Prosetter in place, Lester Lithograph produces sharper color, greater contrast and higher ink densities, resulting in more dramatic color reproduction on press equipment. The decision to purchase the new two-color presses was based on the shop’s success with its first Printmaster QM 46, which boosted productivity by 30 percent. Since the installation, Martino-White Printing, Inc. reports increases in quality and capacity due to the high level of automation on the press. New York State Assembly Increases Quality with Two Printmaster PM 52 Presses The New York State Assembly, located in Albany, N.Y., recently installed two Printmaster PM 52 two-color presses from Heidelberg to advance its pressroom technology. Since the installation, the shop reports increases in quality and productivity due to the PM 52’s automation and user-friendly operation. In addition, the new presses expanded the shop’s capabilities to include oversized pieces. The New York State Assembly is a government-operated printer housing 49 employees. The shop prints all materials for the state of New York, including brochures, newsletters and posters. Printed Just Right Opens for Business with All Heidelberg Equipment Printed Just Right, located in Jacksonville, Fla., recently installed a two-color Printmaster QM 46 press, a Quicksetter 300E imagesetter and a POLAR 66 high-speed cutter from Heidelberg. The new solutions are the shop’s first installations since it opened its doors on Oct. 10, 2005. The shop has been running the new press at approximately 10,000 sheets per hour to produce an assortment of general commercial work, including flyers, business materials and direct mail pieces. Since the installation, Printed Just Right reports that the quality and speed of the new Heidelberg equipment has made workflow more efficient. Enters Four-Color Market with Heidelberg Quickmaster QM DI 46 Print Pro, Inc., based in Columbus, Ohio, recently entered the four-color market with the addition of the Quickmaster QM DI 46. Since the installation in August 2005, the shop has broadened its wide range of services and business has grown by 30 percent. With the new press, Print Pro, Inc. now is positioned to offer existing and prospective clientele quality four-color printing with fast turnaround at more affordable pricing for short runs. Founded in 1996, Print Pro, Inc. is a mid-size commercial printer housing six employees and offering a full range of services from graphic design to mail house distribution. PV Communications Adds POLAR 137 XT Cutter to All-Heidelberg Shop PV Communications, based in Loudonville, Ohio, recently added a POLAR 137 XT high-speed cutter to increase efficiency. Since the installation, the shop reports increased accuracy and consistency, primarily due to the cutter’s highly automated jogging system. The new cutter also streamlines postpress workflow in the all-Heidelberg shop, resulting in greater productivity and improved quality. PV Communications uses the POLAR 137 XT to produce an assortment of marketing materials for its manufacturing, corporate and graphic design clientele. In operation for more than 25 years, PV Communications is a general commercial printer housing 50 employees. In addition to its pressroom services, the shop offers Web design as well as mailing and fulfillment options. Quality Printing Service Installs Prepress, Postpress Equipment from Heidelberg Quality Printing Service, located in Bismarck, N.D., recently installed a Prosetter 102 computer-to-plate system and a POLAR 115 X high-speed cutter from Heidelberg to increase quality and efficiency. The shop reports that the Prosetter saves an average of $3,000 to $4,000 per month and the new cutter has boosted postpress productivity by 40 percent. Since the installation, productivity and quality have increased, and the simple operation on the new equipment enables the in-plant printer to handle more complex postpress work. With 18 employees, the Production Facility at Saint Joseph’s University uses the new bindery equipment to produce a wide range of products for the University, from simple newsletters to sophisticated scholarly publications. Times-Independent Publishing Co. Installs POLAR 78 X Cutter from Heidelberg Times-Independent Publishing Co. Inc., based in Moab, Utah, recently installed a POLAR 78 X high-speed cutter from Heidelberg to upgrade its existing finishing equipment. Since the installation, the shop reports that the cutter’s high levels of automation have created a faster, more efficient workflow. Working alongside the shop’s two-color Printmaster QM 46, the new equipment produces a wide range of general commercial materials, including booklets, business cards and business forms. Additionally, the shop prints the local weekly newspaper. Founded in 1896, Times-Independent Publishing Co. Inc. is a family-owned and operated printer housing 12 employees. The shop services primarily local clients, including government agencies, museums and small businesses. Waukesha County Technical College Installs Printmaster QM 46 Press Waukesha County Technical College, located in Pewaukee, Wis., recently installed a two-color Printmaster QM 46 press from Heidelberg to update technology in its facility. The educational facility houses 12 Heidelberg presses, ranging from a Printmaster QM 46 to a Speedmaster SM 74 press with perfector. The shop reports that the technological features of its Heidelberg presses enable students to gain hands-on experience and maximum comprehension of press operation. The graphic communications program at Waukesha County Technical College has 177 full-time students and 45 full- and part-time faculty members to support courses offered through its Harry V. Quadracci Printing and Graphics Center.
