Press release from the issuing company

November 28th, 2005 - Al Tahrir Print and Publishing House is installing a new Goss Community press at its printing plant in Cairo. The press will print a number of Egyptian newspaper titles and will increase color and efficiency at the plant. The new press will have a 578 mm cut-off and 760 mm web-width with the possibility of running a ½ reel of 380 mm. It is configured with two four-high towers for 4/4 color, three mono units with integrated reel stands, two Amal AR30 reel stands and one folder. Equipped with both half- and quarter-page capacity, the press provides automatic color register control, including circumferential sidelay register adjustment capability. For ease of operation the motorized ink keys are controlled via a touch screen interface. The press will print at speeds of up to 30,000 copies per hour. Mostafa El Mansy, General Manager and Board Member of the Al Tahrir Printing and Publishing House, comments, “We purchased the press for its cost-effectiveness and excellent printing quality. It will serve a great number of our titles within Egypt and will also enable us to print up to 16 pages color and 24 black in our tabloid publications, or eight pages full color and 12 black in our broadsheets. Having been a user of Goss presses for many years, we knew we would receive both reliability and high quality in our new press.” Paul Feeney, Goss Sales Manager, Middle East and Africa, states, “The Goss Community press range offers a wide choice of features and options, making it the ideal small format press system chosen by many newspaper printers across the Middle East. Available with many productivity features, the Goss Community press can be configured to suit individual printer's needs.” The Al Tahrir Group comprises of Al Gomhouria Press House, Société Oriental de Publicité, Société Egyptienne de Publicité and the United Distribution Company. The group manages the printing, publishing and distribution of Egyptian newspapers, magazines and books as well as advertising and commercial print for corporate and national organizations. Al Tahrir is based in Cairo, but also has offices in several major sites across Egypt, including Alexandria, Ismalia and Tanta. The press installation is due to be complete by the end of 2005.
