Mitsubishi Imaging accelerates polyester CTP expansion at PRINT 05

Press release from the issuing company

Rye, New York — Mitsubishi Imaging celebrated 20 years as a leading innovator of computer to plate technology at PRINT 05 with a demonstration of its newest generation of its Silver DigiPlate technology. The polyester plates were at the heart of a 4-up print production stream, which demonstrated the key elements of the Silver DigiPlate system, including plates, workflow software and platesetters. “We wanted to remind printers that the CTP revolution and all the time and money saving opportunities that it creates started with polyester plates, and more specifically with Silver DigiPlate,” notes Dr. Hiroshi Tomimasu, President & CEO of Mitsubishi Imaging. “Today, non-metal plates are being used in over half of the CTP sites in North America. Judging from printer reaction to our Silver DigiPlate demonstration at PRINT, that share will continue to grow.” One reason for the popularity of Silver DigiPlate: Its performance helps printers take advantage of the rapid growth in short-run quick-turn-around color jobs. “Our polyester plates are the perfect solution to the challenges faced by printers today,” says Frances Cicogna, Marketing Director — Graphic Arts Systems at Mitsubishi Imaging. “Silver DigiPlate and our line of affordable, fully automated platesetters puts CTP within the reach of all printers.” Performance Improvements The latest generation of Silver DigiPlate features improved registration, superior tone reproduction, and enhanced on-press performance. In addition to demonstrating those benefits at PRINT, Mitsubishi Imaging announced new software upgrades that provide big-facility automation to small-shop workflows: - The new RipMate RIP includes a new Font Emulation feature that helps overcome delays during those times when a font is missing from a customer-supplied file. - SDP Smart Tools adds value and functionality to Mitsubishi Imaging’s SDP RIP by automating virtually all aspects of file preparation. Platesetter Premiere For companies printing on portrait or duplicator presses, Mitsubishi Imaging launched the new DPX Lite platesetter at PRINT. A true internal drum machine, the DPX Lite fully automates polyester plate production, so printers can handle more jobs in less time. Manufactured by Esko-Graphics, the DPX Lite outperforms everything else in its class, providing a wider range of plate sizes as well as variable spot sizes and resolutions up to 3600 dpi. Plates are imaged in punch position for precise registration so process color is a breeze even when printing in two passes. Diamond Jet for Proofing, Promotions & Premium Results In its role as the world’s leading manufacturer of inkjet media, Mitsubishi introduced several new paper products: - Diamond Jet GF6 inkjet paper provides more accurate inkjet proofs and is designed to meet the FOGRA standard. The innovation maximizes the performance of Epson’s UltraChrome inks and has a semi-gloss surface to match the most popular offset stocks. - Designed for inside window displays, Diamond Jet Vision is transparent to people looking out, while delivering a high-impact promotional message to the rest of the world. That creates POP opportunities for printers with wide inkjet systems. - New Diamond Jet 100% Cotton Paper equips facilities with inkjet systems to enter high-end print markets. The media features a rich texture and maintains its original color over time, so printers can add artists, art dealers and high-end photographers to their client lists. - Diamond Jet Recording Film eliminates the need for imagesetters and all the chemistry and processing that goes with them by equipping printers to produce plate-ready film right on their inkjet printers.
