MAN Roland generates significant sales with its 'Big Advantages' both offsite and onsite at PRINT 05

Press release from the issuing company

Westmont, Illinois — MAN Roland Inc. announced a number of significant sheetfed and web press sales at PRINT 05 — confirming the success of its strategy to split the show’s spotlight between its exhibit in McCormick Place and its Technology Center here. The largest format press performing at PRINT — a 64” ROLAND 900 XXL six color with coater — was the star of the MAN Roland pavilion. The exhibit also featured new web press innovations and launched the pressmaker’s new printcom and printservices support elements in North America. Meanwhile, an eight-color ROLAND 700 perfector with inline coating and a six-color-with-coater ROLAND 500 were demonstrated for visitors to the Technology Center, which is located in suburban Chicago. The demonstration hub also showcased web press, networking and service advancements. “We’re discovering that printers prefer seeing our products performing in a realistic working environment, and that’s the experience they get in our Technology Center,” says Yves Rogivue, CEO of MAN Roland Inc. “It may be one of the reasons our sales are rising. We had a solid second quarter this year, and our accomplishments announced at PRINT 05 bode well for the third quarter.” Among the success stories released at the show: - West Coast printing powerhouse Monarch Litho purchased five presses from MAN Roland. A 73” ROLAND 900 XXL six-color-with-coating and a 41” ROLAND 700 six-color-with-coater perfector are slated for Monarch’s Montebello, California plant outside of Los Angeles. A second ROLAND 700 six-color-with-coater perfector as well as an eight-color-with-coater ROLAND 700 perfector will be producing in the Monarch’s new facility in San Teresa, New Mexico. And a third ROLAND 700 six-color-with-coater perfector will work at the company’s plant in Juarez, Mexico. - Toronto’s St. Joseph Print is making a $40 million capital investment in three new MAN ROTOMAN S web heatset presses: an eight-unit 48-page press, a six-unit 16-page press, and a four-unit 16-page press, all set for installation in 2006. - The 64-inch ROLAND 900 XXL that served as the centerpiece of the MAN Roland exhibit was purchased by Superior Lithographics for installation later this month. With over 18 years experience using wide-format ROLAND technology, the Los Angeles printer has become a premier supplier to the corrugated box industry for high quality litho labels and top sheets for lamination to corrugated board. - Utah Paper Box’s new ROLAND 700 begins with a printing unit, followed by a perfector, an inline coating unit, and a double drying extension. Then six more printing units appear, followed by second in-line coating unit and yet another double extension for drying. The custom configuration makes UPB’s Rigid, Folding, and Litho Laminate products more affordable, and allows the Salt Lake City facility to more aggressively go after new business. - The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has purchased a five-color ROLAND 700 perfector with inline coating. Major options include ColorPilot and automated wash-up. - Vancouver’s Metropolitan Fine Printers purchased an eight-color ROLAND 700 perfector at PRINT 05. The new press will join three existing MAN Roland perfectors at Metropolitan. - General Press Corporation signed for a seven-color ROLAND 700 and a six-color ROLAND 500. The company is a leading commercial printing and packaging solutions provider, located near Pittsburgh. - Meredith-Webb selected a 64” six-color ROLAND 900 XXL with coater for its commercial printing facility in Burlington, North Carolina. - Bellshire Limited in Toronto chose a six-color ROLAND 500 with coater for its packaging work. - Rinaldi Printing in Tampa, Florida selected a five-color ROLAND 700 with in-line coating.
