Goss International expands Lifetime Support capabilities for the Americas commercial web printing market

Press release from the issuing company

September 14th, 2005 – Goss International is dedicated to providing its customers with Goss Lifetime Support services based on a solid platform of parts, service, training and enhancement offerings. Following its success in servicing the newspaper printing market, Goss will leverage its resources and experience to meet the needs for broadened Lifetime Support in the commercial printing industry. This is an important step in the integration and sharing of the best processes within its commercial and newspaper web press activities to bring added value to all customers. Greg Blue, Senior Vice President of Aftermarket for Goss International is leading this new expansion of Goss Lifetime Support capabilities. As part of the endeavor, Goss has recently appointed Harry Kokolus as the Vice President of Americas Aftermarket Sales. Greg Blue comments, “Harry brings the team many years of experience in lifetime support sales from the legacy Goss newspaper market. He will work collaboratively with the lifetime support team based in New Hampshire along with the existing Goss commercial web sales team under the leadership of Ed Young and Graham Trevett in the North American market. Together, they will listen and respond to the needs of our commercial customer base with a broad portfolio of Goss Lifetime Support offerings.” In order to stay ahead in today’s competitive printing market, printers require the latest technologies at the best return on investment. Goss has recognized the need to not only offer state-of-the-art technologies in new press systems, but also to bring 2005 productivity standards to the existing installed base. With limited investment and interruption of production for customers, Goss enhancement products and rebuild services will be able to optimize product quality, improve productivity and reduce waste on existing, installed commercial presses. At Print 05, Goss will introduce its proven new commercial enhancement products. For example: Plate Cylinder Upgrade. This upgrade offers our current design of plate cylinder for installation on existing Sunday 3000 and earlier M-3000 press systems. The package consists of a new plate cylinder with revised lock-up bar and spring geometry, as well as a modified tail-tucker bar. This lock-up geometry greatly reduces the sensitivity of the plate-loading process to improperly bent or loaded plates. This in turn reduces the risk of plate cracking, which saves time and reduces plate and blanket costs. Zero-slip Folder Nips Upgrade. This product enhancement has proved to be extremely valuable in terms of reducing make-ready time and improving operational efficiency. Enhanced Semi-Automatic Plate Loading. Based on the technology in the Goss Autoplate fully-automatic plate loading option offered on new press systems, this upgrade system can reduce the time associated with job changes by up to 40%. Blanket Washer Upgrade. This package upgrades the Automatic Blanket Washer and includes center-feed spray bars, an updated brush roller, related software changes, and a new air motor. These combine to provide a more efficient distribution of solvent for cleaner blankets with less waste and reduced maintenance cycles. Goss Omnicon Control Upgrade. This software package for M-1000B press systems utilizes the main press console from the newest version of our Goss Omnicon control system. The benefit of this upgrade is that connectivity is improved between the Omnicon control system and other software modules, including the Goss OmniColor console, prepress interfaces and closed loop color control systems. Additionally, under the expanding Goss ENHANCE enhancements product portfolio, Goss International now offers a range of Goss Contiweb splicer and dryer, Goss M-600 press, Goss C700 insert press and Goss postpress equipment upgrades for 2005 and 2006. Jochen Meissner, Goss International COO, summarized, “Goss has a large installed base in the web offset market. Lifetime support services are our key business focus to create value for our customers. We want our customers to benefit from OEM quality in parts, service, enhancements and training at competitive prices at any time in the life of their equipment. Goss International has a long-term commitment to the web offset printing industry.”
