Hot Times For Cardboard, Paper And Plastics

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, September 8, 2005 - Maximum number of applications, minimum set-up times: the Dresden-based cutting machine manufacturer KAMA will show a new generation of its multi-functional TS 74-60 Automatic Die Cutter at PRINT ‘05 in Chicago. The compact, multi-talented cutter will be demonstrated at the Heidelberg booth, embedded in the work-flow of the printing and post-press equipment distributed by the leading printing machine manufacturer. The compact, multi-talented KAMA cutter for post-processing print products is flexible and efficient: it cuts, creases, perforates, kiss-cuts, cold embosses and finishes using hot foil stamping technology. “Considering that print runs are getting smaller and more specialised, short set-up times have turned out to be the key factor for post-processing equipment,” emphasises Marcus Tralau, managing director of KAMA GmbH. KAMA cutters are designed to cope with quick function and sheet size changes. Small and medium-sized jobs can be processed promptly and profitably. KAMA Hot Foil Finish: Suitable also for Smaller Print Shops Quick set-up also is the main feature of the KAMA HF 74 hot foil stamping module for the TS 74. Thanks to this module, the cutter also can provide hot foil finish, which is increasingly demanded. Changing from hot foil stamping to cutting operation takes less than 30 minutes. KAMA's hot foil module, which also can be retrofitted, boasts a convincing cost-performance ratio, thus making it a manageable investment for small firms. The compact KAMA TS 74 Automatic Die Cutter, which processes sheets of up to 74 x 60 cm (29.1 x 23.6 in), only requires about 20 m² installation space. Another new development of the innovative firm is a hot cut module for the TS 74 model. This module allows plastic materials to be processed easily and accurately, thanks to heated creasing and cutting blades. It is a true asset when it comes to making plastic film packaging, folded boxes, plastic folders or CD covers. If heated blades are used, the material will be displaced instead of being compacted along the creasing and cutting lines. This results in clean-cut edges, even with thick materials and facilitates further processing steps thanks to low restoring forces. Short set-up times when changing between hot cutting, creasing, cutting, embossing, hot foil stamping or combined embossing and hot foil stamping ensure that KAMA cutters can be used very flexibly. KAMA cutters are made in Dresden by 118 employees and are distributed worldwide in co-operation with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. KAMA GmbH was founded in 1994, emerging from the traditional firm, Polygraph KAMA, and celebrated its “100th and 10th anniversary” last year.
