Uniform look towards International Market

Uniform, the printer brand of London based B&P Lightbrigade Group, have announced their attendance at all four of the Visual Communication exhibitions in Europe this year. The Viscom shows are to be held in Paris on the 14th - 16th September, Dusseldorf from 29th September, Madrid on the 13th to 15th of October and, billed as Europes biggest sign and large format exhibition of 2005, Viscom Italia in Milan on the 10th - 12th November. Attendance at these international shows is part of a Uniform drive to compound their success, some might call it dominance, of the UK large format solvent inkjet market. With over 800 Uniform printers now installed, B&P Lightbrigade are upbeat about the potential of the brand overseas. To the casual observer Uniforms core printer products are converted Roland VersaCAMM and Soljet systems, so how do Uniform expect to create market share in a highly competitive continental market that is already awash with converted systems, third-party ink alternatives, and all manner of low-cost Chinese sourced printers. We asked B&P Lightbrigade Managing Director David Burton. "Firstly we accept that the European market is highly competitive and arguably more mature than the UK market. However the market is to some degree dominated by entrepreneurial dealers who are industry enthusiasts. We don't expect dealers of that nature to work with Uniform. What we are confident in, is our ability to bring a genuinely well thought out solvent inkjet solution to the more conservative dealers who are more brand focused, and who want a fully shrink-wrapped solution to resell." Burton continues "Over the last year we have developed the Uniform range to the point where we have a printer, ink and media combination, all Uniform, that can service virtually any application. This has been compounded by the recent launch of our Uniform PRO series that adds UV flatbed printing, and automated finishing to the range. We also now offer a comprehensive range of Uniform wide format roll substrates that are fully profiled and competitively priced. In short we make it very easy for our partners to sign up to Uniform and hit the ground running with a full blown hardware and media portfolio." Uniform cite existing partners such as Diatrace in France as being the perfect example of a dealer that Uniform will work for. Burton explains "Diatrace are traditionally a CAD dealer who are focused on printing solutions from Hewlett Packard and Canon. They were aware of the growth in solvent inkjet, but were somewhat baffled by the alarming range of OEM, third-party, converted, and rebadged machines available in their market. In Uniform they saw a brand that was well presented, proven, and accessible, that allowed them the opportunity to enter the market without having to go through a steep learning curve, and most importantly, a brand that they felt confident would meet the specific requirements of their customer base." B&P Lightbrigade are actively seeking out dealers of this nature who are focused on customer service. Burton explains "As the market matures the need to be entrepreneurial is of lesser significance. There are not many clever moves in large format digital left, it's more about consolidation, fine-tuning product, customer service, and meeting customer expectation. We believe Uniform answers those requirements, and by working with the right partners, who have a similar mindset, we can hopefully replicate our UK success on the International market."
