Citiplate and ECRM Announce Custom Plate Manufacturing Agreement

Press release from the issuing company

(Westbury, NY and Tewksbury MA – September 6, 2005) Citiplate Inc. and ECRM Imaging Systems today announced that they have joined in a Custom Plate Manufacturing Agreement to make available CTP platesetters and digital violet plates that are, quite literally, “made for each other.” Citiplate will custom-manufacture violet digital plates that are optimized to consistently deliver top performance when imaged in ECRM's MAKO CTP series violet platesetters for commercial printers. Citiplate says it has completed development and extensive testing of its no pre-heat violet digital plate photopolymer destined for use in the ECRM MAKO CTP series. This coating formula is intended for standard chemical processing after imaging and is based on one of Citiplate's patented and proprietary photochemical formulas, “fine-tuned” for optimum exposure by the 405 nm violet laser diode imaging engine used in MAKO CTP series platesetters. Citiplate also says it is now completing development, and will be fine tuning, a process-free violet photopolymer which will enable Citiplate to offer custom-manufactured no-process violet digital plates to MAKO platesetter users late in 2006. At PRINT 05, ECRM personnel in exhibit booth #8551 will have access to Citiplate staff who can provide details of the new plate products as ECRM demonstrates its MAKO CTP series violet platesetters. Citiplate has scheduled controlled North American sales to begin in the Fall of 2005. ECRM also plans to exhibit several new products at Print 05, including the MAKO System4x that will work with either the chemically processed or no-process violet digital plates. Mark Givens, Vice President, ECRM said: “We are pleased that Citiplate, an independent and innovative plate manufacturer, has arrived to the market with a high caliber digital violet plate. Coupled with our family of low cost MAKO platesetters, this combination offers an excellent solution for printers seeking a value driven option in CTP imaging. With no-process plate distribution scheduled to begin in late 2006, ECRM will continue to update our proven MAKO design with the latest technology, allowing for the best possible image quality on no-process violet media. However, all existing MAKO series CTP devices will have the capability to image Citiplate's no-process plates, giving our current customers a tremendous range of imaging options never before offered in the violet CTP world.” Gary Dolgins, Citiplate CEO said: ”Citiplate Imaging Technologies is very pleased about its Custom Plate Manufacturing Agreement with ECRM. We have been working closely with ECRM to optimize our violet digital plates. As we enter the next phase of product introduction, we are excited about delivering a new value proposition to ECRM customers. Customers adopting our chemically processed violet plates today will be able to migrate to our no-process technology in the future using the same ECRM equipment that they currently own.” ECRM Imaging Systems was founded in 1969 and has achieved prominence as a global leader in cost-effective quality imaging technologies for commercial graphic arts and publishing businesses. In three decades as a supplier to these businesses, ECRM has successfully applied a broad range of optical, imaging, laser, mechanical, and analog- and digital-electronic technologies to their needs. The company is particularly well known for its MAKO series platesetters and for its focus on price/value leadership in imaging systems. Citiplate, a leading plate manufacturer since 1953, has adopted the unique business model of being a "business-to-business" (b2b) supplier of plate technologies and plate manufacturing (50,000 sq. ft. minimum per order). Its key distribution partners include: CTP electronics distributors; CTP consumables dealers: large-volume printers; platesetter manufacturers; and purchasing groups, who resell the plates that Citiplate bulk custom-manufactures for them. Citiplate offers a rich choice of patented and proprietary digital and analog formulas, with the added advantage that specifications can be "fine-tuned." Citiplate seeks distribution and b2b partners worldwide who want to concentrate on target-marketing highly competitive plate solutions matching the needs of specific print market segments.
