September 9th, 2005 – Quebecor World will install three new Goss Sunday press systems with a total of 16 high-pagination printing units at two U.S. facilities this fall. An eight-unit Goss Sunday 3000/32 press in a two-web stacked configuration will be used for commercial publication printing at the Quebecor World facility in Lebanon, Ohio. In Stillwater, Oklahoma, the company will install a pair of four-unit Goss Sunday 4000/64 presses. A unit from the Sunday 4000/64 will be featured on the Goss International booth at the Print '05 show. “The new gapless presses are part of an ongoing investment program in 2005 and 2006 to update our facilities with the most productive and efficient production platforms available,” according to David Blair, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing and Technology for Quebecor World. The Goss Sunday 3000/32 press utilizes gapless blankets to allow a wider, two-pages-around by eight-pages-across cylinder configuration. A Goss PFF-3 pinless double-former folder will allow the two-web press to produce signatures of up to 64 pages. Each Goss Sunday 4000/64 press at the Stillwater facility will also produce 64-page signatures, utilizing a double-circumference 4x8 cylinder configuration. The two presses will be duplexed and will feature Goss 2JF folders and the Goss Autoplate system for fully automated plate changing. Quebecor World will equip all three new Sunday press systems with Goss Ecocool dryers with integrated chill rolls and Goss Contiweb FD pasters. The Goss flying pasters are designed for 60-inch roll diameters as well as conventional 50-inch roll diameters.
