Two decades after its introduction, Silver DigiPlate from Mitsubishi Imaging (MPM), Inc. comes to PRINT 05 & CONVERTING 05 with a variety of enhancements that reaffirm its position as the industry's leading plate for computer-to-plate applications among small and medium sized printers. Mitsubishi's vision of CTP has helped drive the market since Silver DigiPlate made its debut at PRINT 85. At that time, many printers adopted the technology, as it offered an economical and productive platemaking system for black and white and spot color printing. Since then, many more printers have embraced Silver DigiPlate and Mitsubishi has steadily improved the product to better meet their needs. The advancements have provided enhanced resolution, improved backing, better register-holding capability and other features that are needed for quality 4-color printing. As the popularity of Silver DigiPlate grew, Mitsubishi Imaging partnered with other suppliers to provide its customers with complete CTP systems that include software, hardware, proofing and plates. Over the years, with the combination of Silver DigiPlate and the DPX series of platesetters, Mitsubishi Imaging and Esko Graphics have continued to raise the bar on prepress and printing. The latest generation of Silver DigiPlate features improved registration, superior tone reproduction, and enhanced on-press performance. SDP's matte-backing has been optimized, providing tighter initial plate registration accuracy and improved response to registration adjustments. The superior water acceptability provides cleaner start-ups and reduced paper waste by eliminating the need to pre-wet the plate, and less water is required during printing. These enhancements make the SDP family of plate materials even more suitable for high quality color printing.
