Kodak Launches New Products for Blended Print Production Environments Print 05 Exhibition

CHICAGO--Sept. 8, 2005-- Eastman Kodak Company is launching a host of innovative new products that showcase the industry's most comprehensive solutions for print operations - from business management to prepress to the press room. Kodak will demonstrate ways to help customers grow their businesses and streamline operations, with technology ranging from digital capture, workflow and proofing to advanced digital printing, offset and hybrid equipment, in booth #6707 at the Print 05 exhibition, which kicks off tomorrow and runs until September 15 at Chicago's McCormick Place. "Kodak has made tremendous progress this year in delivering on our vision for the graphic communications market," said James Langley, President, Graphic Communications Group (GCG) and Senior Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company. "At Print 05, we will demonstrate a number of innovative solutions that will enable customers to blend digital and conventional technology to their advantage - to serve their customers, expand their businesses and run their operations more effectively." The new Kodak products and services include: The KODAK Enterprise Management Solution (EMS), a complete business workflow solution for the graphic communications industry, representing a new approach to print management information systems (MIS). KODAK EMS software is customized to meet the unique needs of the print industry, and is able to deal with complex environments such as digital print workflows, fulfillment and mailing operations, among many other functions. The KODAK NEXPRESS 2100 plus and NEXPRESS 2500 digital color production presses. This new family of digital color presses features a highly modular platform for maximum configuration flexibility. The 2100 plus, available immediately, incorporates new features such as increased paper capacity and media flexibility. The 2500, which will be available in the first half of 2006, will add increased production speed to the new capabilities of the 2100 plus. Hybrid Offset/Digital Press and KODAK VERSAMARK VX5000e Printing System. Kodak is demonstrating a MULLER MARTINI CONCEPTA hybrid offset/digital press featuring Kodak Versamark's continuous inkjet technology. The press uses two high-speed KODAK VERSAMARK D-series printheads to print variable information in-line with a four-color offset printing press at speeds of up to 1,000 feet per minute. The KODAK VERSAMARK VX5000e printing system, now commercially available, incorporates the latest evolution in continuous inkjet printing from Kodak. With an effective resolution that is twice that of the previous generations of continuous inkjet printheads, the VX5000e delivers an effective combination of high print quality and high productivity supporting a variety of print formats. All-in-One Processless Plate Package - Kodak has combined technologies and services to make it easy for companies to remove processing steps from platemaking. The package includes KODAK THERMAL DIRECT non process plates and the new KODAK MAGNUS 400 CTP imaging device - both being launched at Print 05 - and the KODAK PRINERGY Evo PDF processor as well as a proofer, service and support, and on-site startup assistance. New Inkjet Proofing System - Kodak will debut the KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution. This proofing solution deploys the best of KODAK color technology to drive optimal output color fidelity and consistency in a drop-on-demand inkjet proofing system. Workflow enhancements - Kodak will announce a host of feature upgrades for its PRINERGY workflow software platform, including PDF Compare and PDF Merge, prepress production tools; and Layered PDF Versioning, a new versioning system that manages and automates proofing, approval and plating of complex versions of print jobs. Supporting Customers' Businesses Kodak's commitment to its customers goes beyond individual products. Kodak is expanding its Business Development Services, which deliver tools, services and personal consulting to help customers achieve better results through quicker turnarounds, shorter runs, lower inventory, and more dynamic and effective communication programs. This service now reaches across the product lines of Kodak's Graphic Communications Group and is supported by business development specialists in the field. Business Development Services is rich in tools such as business planning resources, sales support training, industry and vertical market resources, open house support, application guides and samples, owners' guides, and marketing templates. In addition, customers have 24-hour-a-day access to the tools and support through a new web-based customer portal at http://bds.kodak.com. "We're taking a different approach than most companies in this market," said Kevin Joyce, Managing Director, United States and Canada Region, GCG. "Others might offer either digital or offset printing solutions. Kodak offers the right solution - as an individual product or a set of technologies and consulting services to support a customer's goals for growth and profitability." Kodak also highlights at its Print 05 booth three products that received 2005 GATF InterTech Technology Awards: KODAK NEXPRESS fifth imaging unit solutions, KODAK COLORFLOW Custom Color Tools, and PDF Compare and PDF Merge. The booth also features, the KODAK DIGIMASTER E125 digital production system, the newly announced KODAK 1200i wide-format inkjet printing system, monitor and remote proofing, and a range of prepress and color management systems. Kodak is also exhibiting at booth #3089 in the Mailing and Fulfillment Center, demonstrating a fully integrated direct mail/membership card/self-mailer featuring three KODAK VERSAMARK inkjet printing systems. All of the products launched at Print 05 will be supported by Kodak's service and support organization. Customers will benefit from expert service that is increasingly seamless from image capture to prepress to final output.
