Printsoft Americas Debuts Deskdirect

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, Ill. – Sept. 13, 2005 – PrintSoft Americas, a leader in document system and mail automation solutions, introduced DeskDirect at Print '05. The end-to-end mail system is the first of its kind in North America, and dramatically enhances productivity and saves money for organizations. PrintSoft Americas is a wholly owned subsidiary of PrintSoft, recently acquired by Australia Post. PrintSoft Americas has adapted Australia Post’s successful “hybrid mail” system – described as desktop mail in the United States – and launched DeskDirect to print service providers and businesses. The product allows users to create mail on the desktop that is electronically submitted to a service bureau or centralized production center for printing and mailing. “This new application offers the most efficient and cost effective way to generate desktop mail,” said Graeme John, managing director, Australia Post. “The success of the Australian “hybrid mail” product, Post eLetter, led to the desire to bring this technology to other major world markets, commencing with the United States.” DeskDirect is designed to displace labor-and-time intensive departmental desktop printing workloads by redirecting the workflows into highly automated print production locations. It allows businesses to eliminate local printing, folding, inserting and stamping, consequently reducing postage costs, print consumables and other expenses associated with outbound mailing. Additionally, DeskDirect, enables users to create personalized documents and easily use document design templates. Corporate departments create and approve these templates to ensure compliance of messages and corporate standards. “Businesses can see dramatic cost savings from the hidden expenses associated with mail communication,” said David Frenkel, president and CEO, PrintSoft Americas. “Also, with a more efficient outbound mail system, employees can focus on core business practices and enterprises can uncover more efficient processes for marketing and customer relationship management programs.” D&B’s collection service in Australia sends 16,000 letters a day on behalf of its clients. They have found that DeskDirect reduces the internal resources and time needed to print letters and shortened the time between the letter being printed and the debtors receiving it. “DeskDirect is saving D&B tens of thousands of dollars every month,” said Geoff Cope, director of receivable collections, D&B. “It has freed up key staff time and resources to focus on our core business – collection strategies.” For the highly competitive print production market, DeskDirect provides the means to create new business and revenue streams. The new product offers an end-to-end mail system that allows providers to aggregate, sort, route and batch multiple jobs from numerous clients, uncovering savings for both the provider and the client. DeskDirect is immediately available to PrintSoft Americas customers in North, Central and South America.
