Elixir Blue Ocean Increases Maximum Archive Size to 18-million Terabytes

Press release from the issuing company

VENTURA, CA – August 11, 2005 – Elixir Technologies Corporation, a leading developer of software for creating and managing high-value documents of all types, today announced a dramatic increase in the maximum size of document archives that can be created and managed by its Blue Ocean system. Support for enormous databases is accompanied in this latest release by an increase in insertion speed, supporting a rate of 2 million 3211 documents added to an archive per hour. Web browser-based search speed stays flat, around 2 seconds, even with very large databases. Blue Ocean, based on a proprietary, modified 64-bit OLAP database, supports the unforeseeable requirements of large organizations that are coping with compliance with strict governmental regulations. Where most document archives require a lengthy period of analysis and an even longer period of loading and indexing, the creation of a Blue Ocean archive begins at once by simply loading documents. All data and locational information is indexed during loading. Because all structures are virtual, archive users can immediately begin searching the database, and it takes very little time to redefine and deploy new searches. Blue Ocean’s small footprint, only a fraction of the original document size, minimizes the necessity for a massive hardware investment. One financial services company using this technology manages a database of 758 million documents, a database of about 1.2 terabytes in size, adding roughly 16 million new documents per month. Elixir offers Blue Ocean as a hosted service; as leased software priced by database size; and as licensed software. Professional services, including scanning, OCR, and database loading and query design, are also available.
