Baldwin Shows New Standards In Newspaper Production At IFRA

Press release from the issuing company

8/18/2005 -- Visitors to the Baldwin stand 4J213 at IFRA 2005 will have the opportunity to hear about some of the industry’s most advanced press accessory and control equipment for the newspaper printing industry. At IFRA Baldwin will feature its Newspaper Grade products, systems and services, which enable a new standard of quality and financial performance to be achieved from a newspaper press. Newspapers around the world use Baldwin products to produce eye-catching colour, reduce unscheduled pressroom downtime and maintenance, cut down paper waste and dust in the press hall, improve manpower efficiency and minimise the use of solvents and VOCs in the printing process. The company’s extensive expertise in how to enable printers to obtain the greatest productivity and quality from their newspaper presses has made Baldwin a leader in its field. Baldwin’s products are designed for use with single and double width newspaper presses. These include the unique Impact automatic blanket cleaning systems, which significantly reduce makeready times on the press, eliminate solvent handling and are virtually VOC-free. The Impact system incorporates Baldwin’s impregnated Prepac cleaning cartridge, which is an environmentally friendly media for cleaning virtually any blanket. The Prepac cloth contains the exact amount of solution to clean the blanket between jobs, and after use is automatically moved on so that fresh cloth is ready for the next blanket clean. In addition, Baldwin can deliver the system as a Flex technology system enabling the customer to use the Impact system either with a Prepac cloth or with a dry cloth material, readily available throughout the industry, should they wish to do so. Other products include the Jetstream 1000, which presents a new approach to web cleaning resulting in improved print quality, reduced downtime and greater profitability. The Jetstream 1000, combined with the Impact blanket cleaning system, creates a state-of-the-art solution for web press cleaning that is extremely economical to operate. Baldwin’s extensive range of cleaning products also includes Tower Clean, which provides a series of options for single width presses that can be extended to suit application and budget requirements. Baldwin’s Litho Spray is a highly accurate spray dampening system, which features a patented nozzle and advanced control system called Constant C. Spray dampening systems have been available on the market for several years, but have always suffered from the potential of the nozzles to block. Baldwin’s unique Constant C technology provides an air curtain around the nozzle tip to keep ink mist and debris away, ensuring that nozzles remain unblocked during production. The Litho Spray units are easy to install and maintain, are suitable for a wide range of web offset presses, and apply the minimum amount of water necessary to uniformly dampen the printing plate.
