Remote Director 3.1 Released, Features Enhanced Tools for Printers

Press release from the issuing company

New York, NY; August 15, 2005 – Integrated Color Solutions (ICS), the industry leader in remote proofing, released a new version of the company's award-winning Remote Director monitor proofing software. The latest version will include a suite of tools for printers, allowing them to easily integrate Remote Director in the pressroom. “Remote Director 3.1 was developed with printers in mind,” says John Sweeney, ICS' vice president of sales and marketing. “With this new version of Remote Director, the press operator is provided with proofs that are made from the print file, and rendered using the correct ICC profile, resulting in a much faster press make-ready.” New features in Remote Director 3.1 include: • pressroom mode, including instant navigation with a pointer and no keyboard required • a digital magnifier for quick inspection of detail areas • a compare feature, allowing users to compare two proofs, pixel by pixel • a total area coverage (or ink density) alarm in addition to the current out-of-gamut alarm • spot color blending, which simulates 4-color plus spot color or 2-color blends • an image server update, including enhanced security and increased speed “This latest version answers an important need in today's industry,” adds Sweeney. “Instant navigation of a color-managed monitor proof at press results in faster make-ready, while eliminating costly handling of paper proofs. The ink density alarm, gamut alarm and digital loupe allow printers to evaluate the quality of the proof and print file. In the JDF pressroom, the only deliverable to the press should be the plates, and the ink and paper we print with, and Remote Director makes this possible. It has eliminated the last analog tool in print production.” “We thank our customers for their input, and believe the market will agree that Remote Director 3.1 is the most powerful proofing system ever,” said Jeffrey Silverman, ICS' president and CEO. “This gives marketers, agencies, prepress houses and printers a powerful color communication tool that will benefit them and their customers.” To request a free download of Remote Director, visit www.icscolor.com, and click on “I Want My Remote Director Now”.
