Impostrip On-Demand achieves new levels of automation for digital printing

Press release from the issuing company

Montreal, Canada, August 15, 2005 Ultimate Technographics Inc, the leading imposition software developer and the inventor of digital imposition, is pleased to announce the immediate release of Impostrip On-Demand 4.3. Impostrip On-Demand automates the production of documents, business cards, labels and other products for digital printing. The software relieves the user of the tedious task of opening the job in Quark or Acrobat or creating endless quantities of templates in imposition software. Impostrip On-Demand features Dynamic Templates which means a template can be assigned too many different jobs. No need to make a new template every time the page count changes, the page size or the binding method. The Dynamic Template can be associated to hot folders, which can be configured in many ways for digital printing. The hot folder can rename files and output them in segments. This is required in large variable data jobs, where the digital press does not have to wait for the imposition software to process the whole job before it starts printing. The hot folder can also be configured to print the last page first which is required by some online finishing equipment. Impostrip OnDemand also supports repeating booklets, where a large multiple page job can be divided automatically into a series of booklets that can be folded and stitched inline on the digital press. Page creep can be applied to each booklet. Impostrip On-Demand will also use an exclusive best-fit analysis of the job on the basis of trim size and sheet size and automatically generates the template and outputs the job for hands off imposition. Impostrip On-Demand hot folders can be published across the network and any user on the network, or via a FTP site, can automatically send jobs for imposition and output. “The increasing volume of digital print requires efficient automation of document production,” explains David Watson, President and CEO of Ultimate, “It is inefficient to rely on desk top publishing products and plug-ins to organize this output. It is also inefficient to rely on PDF workflows if the job is in PostScript. Industrial digital printing requires efficient automation of imposed PostScript and PDF documents.” The automation in Impostrip On-Demand is also used by small format CTP users who use it as a complete automated workflow for PDF and PostScript imposition to make printing plates. Version 4.3 adds support for Acrobat 7, Quark 6.5, Illustrator CS, Corel Draw 12, and the Opus variable data system. Impostrip On-Demand, or the technology embedded in it, is sold by Xerox, Xeikon, Kodak Creo and NexPress, HP Indigo and others. For small format CTP, it is sold by AB Dick, Jet Plate Systems and many dealers around the world. Impostrip On-Demand can be seen in the Ultimate booth at Print 05 booth # 6225. A fully working five-day demo version can be downloaded at www.imposition.com.
