Xerox Refreshes Leading Paper Line, Offering More Choices, Improved Quality

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--Aug. 16, 2005-- Xerox Corporation introduced new enhancements and a new offering to its leading paper line, bringing more choices and better, brighter image quality to everyday office documents and professionally printed materials. The refreshed line of plain (uncoated) paper has a higher degree of whiteness and brightness, featuring a blue-white shade that improves the clarity of images. "These new upgrades will help strengthen the Xerox brand and provide customers with a higher level of paper options," said Merilyn Dunn, a supplies analyst at InfoTrends/CAP Ventures, a market research and strategic consulting firm. "The paper industry is very competitive and with these changes, Xerox will remain a leading source for quality paper." Uncoated Papers for the Office Xerox Business Multipurpose 4200 and Xerox Premium Multipurpose 4024, Xerox's most popular and well-known office paper, have been combined. The brand now features one type of paper in a 92 brightness and bluer-white shade, and it has been renamed to "Xerox Business 4200." It includes a full selection of weights from 20 lb. to 110 lb. index, with a range of sizes and configurations -- ideal for everyday black-and-white business documents such as memos and reports. "Xerox Pro-White" paper, a new addition to Xerox's uncoated paper line, is designed for high-end black-and-white and office color printing of documents, such as presentations with graphs and charts. It offers a 95/96 brightness that produces crisp, clean images with high contrast resulting from the combination of a new shade and whiteness level. Uncoated Papers for Printing Professionals "Xerox Color Xpressions+" paper, a premium uncoated digital printing paper, is now brighter and offers an increased selection of sizes and weights from 24 lb. bond to 80 lb. cover. Intended for higher-end professional color applications such as posters and brochures, this extra-white paper has a 98 brightness, a blue-white shade and other properties that result in superior image quality. "Xerox Graphic Xpressions" paper is a complete offering of digitally optimized designer white papers. Xerox has taken its leading Digital Color Xpressions 98 product, expanded the weight offering to include 24 lb. bond, and combined it with other graphic-arts focused papers to provide several options. These Graphic Xpressions papers contain recycled post-consumer waste, making them environmentally friendly. They support a full range of print applications for the graphic communications professional, including graphic designers and commercial printers. Available in three designer shades -- True White, Warm White and Cream White -- each paper brings out different characteristics of an image, such as flesh tones, reds, oranges, and yellows. The paper also can make text and graphic documents easier to read. "As the largest distributor of cut-sheet paper in the world, Xerox is raising its own quality standards," said Nancy Rees, senior vice president, Xerox Supplies Business Group. "By improving our paper portfolio at no extra cost, we are giving customers more value for their money." The enhanced line of Xerox uncoated papers -- Xerox Business 4200, Pro-White, Color Xpressions+ and Graphic Xpressions -- will be available in North America starting next month, with full availability by the end of the year. This uncoated paper line-up complements the full line of Xerox paper and specialty media available through Xerox's direct sales force, authorized resellers and the Web.
