PEAK Launches New RFID Retail Compliance Solution

Press release from the issuing company

Columbia, Maryland (July 21, 2005) – PEAK Technologies, an RR Donnelley company, today announced a new RFID solution suite, PEAK Compliance, enabling consumer goods manufacturers and distributors to quickly meet retailers’ RFID compliance requirements. PEAK Compliance is available in three distinct modules to match each client’s compliance strategy. The three modules are PEAK Compliance Express, PEAK Compliance Mobile and PEAK Compliance Gateway. Each PEAK Compliance offering is a turnkey solution, including software, hardware, lab services, professional services, and support, packaged for clients who want the capability to generate/manage Electronic Product Code? (EPC) RFID tags in a standalone environment or integrated into an existing database or business system. As part of the overall solution offering, PEAK is also positioned to provide EPC-compliant RFID tags that meet customers’ specific requirements. While PEAK Compliance Express ensures that major retailers’ basic RFID tagging requirements are met, PEAK Compliance Mobile and PEAK Compliance Gateway further expand on these requirements with the integration of RFID mobile devices or portal validation. The PEAK Compliance solution will be further complemented by a state-of-the-art RFID test and integration lab in PEAK’s Columbia, MD headquarters. The RFID test and integration lab will allow PEAK’s technical professionals to test product and packaging composition in terms of RFID signal propagation, tag placement, read validation, and a host of other best-fit solutions. The PEAK Compliance solution benefits customers by providing a robust RFID solution for tagging, recording and reporting on cases and pallets while supporting multiple industry-leading hardware vendors, and ensuring compliance with the latest RFID standards and retail mandates. Companies in the consumer goods industry also benefit because the PEAK Compliance solution is able to grow and adapt to retail mandates while protecting customers’ technology investments. “PEAK elected to launch a multi-option RFID offering because customers have different requirements and visions about where RFID will fit strategically within their organizations now and in the future,” said Adrian Thomas, president and CEO, PEAK Technologies, Inc. “The PEAK Compliance solution suite allows our customers to quickly achieve retailer RFID compliance without a significant up-front investment. We believe this approach will enable customers to experience the capabilities of RFID technology and give them time to determine if or how RFID may be a long-term strategic solution to help them further improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs,” added Thomas. For those companies which use PEAK Compliance and see the benefit of further RFID integration, PEAK is also able to offer strategic consulting services to help create the roadmap to expand RFID in select internal business processes to further drive return on investment. The PEAK Compliance suite serves as a framework to enhance a customer’s RFID solution in the future, adding investment protection over alternative “slap and ship” solutions. In addition to the PEAK Compliance suite of offerings, PEAK also offers RFID integration services for customers running SAP? and Oracle? enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. For SAP customers, the PEAK Automation Controller software provides critical RFID device services seamlessly integrated with the SAP? Auto-Id Infrastructure (SAP AII) v2.1 or directly integrated to SAP? R/3?. For Oracle users, PEAK’s ERP team fully supports the Oracle integration strategy for RFID leveraging the advanced functionality within AS10g and the Oracle Warehouse Management System (WMS) 11i application module.
