NAPL Names Harris DeWese 2005 Soderstrom Honoree

PARAMUS, N.J., JULY 18, 2005 – The Soderstrom Society of the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) has named Harris DeWese, chairman and chief executive officer of Compass Capital Partners, recipient of its 45th annual Walter E. Soderstrom Award. One of the printing industry’s most prestigious honors, the award will be presented to DeWese by NAPL Chairman David C. Branch, chairman and CEO of Branch-Smith, Inc., Fort Worth, Texas, at the annual, invitation-only dinner meeting of the Walter E. Soderstrom Society on Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Mid-America Club in Chicago. “Harris has used his considerable energy, enthusiasm, and expertise in myriad ways to benefit the industry and the companies that comprise it,” said NAPL President and CEO Joseph P. Truncale in making the announcement. “From his well-deserved reputation as one of graphic communications’ leading sales gurus to his long record of helping companies grow through mergers and acquisition, Harris has made a contribution that few have equaled. I and everyone at NAPL sincerely congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.” Named for the late Walter E. Soderstrom, one of the founders of NAPL, the award has been bestowed annually since 1961 to a distinguished individual who has contributed significantly to the development and progress of the printing industry. The recipient is selected by fellow members of the Soderstrom Society, an honors organization that provides industry leaders with the opportunity to exchange ideas, suggest improved practices, and recognize the contributions of their peers, including printing firm owners, equipment manufacturers, consultants, and educators. The firm specializes in the graphic communications industry with a focus on mergers and acquisitions. DeWese is nationally recognized as a preeminent “deal maker” in the industry. He has represented selling and acquiring companies in more than 117 of the printing industry’s most innovative and successful transactions. DeWese is also known as the Manana Man, the creator and writer of the “DeWese on Sales” column, featured monthly in Printing Impressions magazine for nearly 21 years. He has authored numerous articles, reports, and training guides, including the best-selling book, Get Out There and Sell Something!
