QuadTech's Five Star Performers shine out at Print '05

Press release from the issuing company

“We will be highlighting some of our many customers who have become ‘stars’ to their own clients by embracing QuadTech technologies,” comments Sharon Quint, Director of Marketing. “By increasing performance, these companies provide higher quality and more timely products to end users, as well as ensuring a more prosperous future for themselves.” The Five Star theme also highlights the differentiators that position QuadTech as the industry leader in the supply of ancillary control equipment for web printers. “There are five main areas where QuadTech provides industry leading products and services to its customers: excellent color management and control, faster mark recognition for web and ribbon register, seamless integration across our product range, sophisticated information management and comprehensive worldwide service and support.” To reflect its theme, QuadTech will demonstrate key products from its portfolio: Color management and control With a host of new features, including operation on QuadTech’s sophisticated ICON platform, the QuadTech Color Control System on ICON - incorporating System Brunner Instrument Flight technology - controls every attribute of ‘ink on paper’. These attributes range from solid ink density to three-color gray balance, ensuring consistent and excellent color from start to finish. The QuadTech Color Control System with Instrument Flight is the only system on the market that analyzes more than 30 color variables. This level of analysis makes it the most reliable system available. Equally, the system allows for the most comprehensive press optimization, a key component in fully color-managed production. Web and ribbon register The QuadTech Register Guidance System with MultiCam and QuadTech Ribbon Control System with MultiCam provide the most advanced register control for commercial web offset and newspaper presses. The advanced performance centers on the MultiCam camera which is designed specifically for the job in hand, rather than using ‘off-the-shelf’ imaging technology. This approach means that MultiCam is up to 30-times faster at finding marks than other sensors on the market. It can also scan the entire cylinder circumference without compromising system performance, maintaining sight of register marks even during periods of maximum register upset, such as at a reel splice. To reduce trim waste, MultiCam sensors recognize marks in an area of circumferential white space as small 0.2” (5,08mm), increasing the printable area of the web. These technologies make MultiCam sensors unique. When combined with QuadTech’s impressive control algorithms, they deliver a color-to-color or ribbon register solution that is fast, accurate and reliable. Complementary to MultiCam based products for commercial and newspaper printing, the QuadTech Autotron Gravure 2200 Register Guidance System makes a substantial contribution to improved efficiencies in the gravure printing process. Depending on the options chosen, it arms operators with fully automatic and comprehensive control over color-to-color register, cut-off, slit and backup on presses of any size. In addition, the ‘Tilt and Fit’ option provides control over moisture related web instability, ensuring optimum register under all running conditions. Integrated controls - ICON QuadTech’s ICON platform is key to making printing presses as efficient as possible: Easier press operation – ICON allows all QuadTech products mounted on a press to be driven by a single touch screen. This multi-function operation ensures the optimum use of installed hardware and reduces training cycles. Reduced job changeover times – ICON is QuadTech’s interface to digital job tickets, minimizing set-up times for both new jobs and re-runs. Connectivity – ICON provides an open interface to many press control architectures, enabling almost ‘plug-and-play’ compatibility and a high level of control The ICON platform provides a new roadmap for the future. With its open architecture, it provides complete integration of ancillary press systems both now and in the future. In this way, printers will be a be able to eliminate errors and minimize variations in their printing processes. Management Information Data Central answers the need for improved workflow through JDF-enabled systems and controls. It is a sophisticated software product, designed specifically to enhance press productivity. Overlaying the control provided by other QuadTech ICON-based products, it provides automatic configuration as well as sophisticated statistics and reports on press performance and optimization. Worldwide service and support With sales and service offices throughout the U.S., Europe, Singapore, Japan and India, and specialist dealers elsewhere, QuadTech, provides a global infrastructure that provides local support and technical assistance, through experienced teams, passionate about the success of their customers. “QuadTech's size, strength and stability means that any project will be successfully completed and supported throughout its life cycle,” states Sharon Quint. “In addition, we actively partner with world-class companies that can expand our ability to provide complete solutions. This fact, plus our technology leadership in many areas, gives our customers a potent competitive edge and a great ability to become the stars of the Print Service Provider community.”
