KENNESAW, Ga. – July 1, 2005 – Heidelberg USA announces the following sample of new product installations: Aiken Letter Shop Adds New Printmaster QM 46 and Quicksetter 300E Albuquerque, N.M.-based Aiken Letter Shop recently added a new Printmaster QM 46 and Quicksetter 300E imagesetter to increase productivity and improve efficiency in the prepress and press departments. The Quicksetter has made the prepress process faster, more efficient and more accurate. The small-format Printmaster press has enabled Aiken to consolidate job production from other equipment. The company says that business has increased and overhead costs have decreased since installing the equipment. Aiken houses eight employees and has been in business since 1942. Andrews Printing Meets Customer Demand with Printmaster PM 52 Andrews Printing of Harvey, Ill., recently added a four-color Printmaster PM 52 to its pressroom to meet the demands of a longtime customer. The new press is being used to produce marketing and promotional pieces, such as self-mailers, at a maximum of 13,000 impressions per hour. The Printmaster PM 52 has quickly become the shop’s “workhorse” and since the installation in December 2004, the press has recorded more than two million impressions. Founded in 1948, Andrews Printing is a family-owned and operated shop specializing in quick print and mid-size format work. With 15 employees, the shop has a client base of local accounts with casino boats, local schools, universities and churches. Ball State University Installs Printmaster PM 52 The print shop at Ball State University, based in Muncie, Ind., recently installed a Printmaster PM 52 press from Heidelberg to increase capacity and meet customer demand for four-color printing. With the new press in place, the print shop has increased productivity and speed, giving it a new competitive edge for work statewide. The shop, which has been a self-supporting operation on the Ball State University campus since 1982, reported $1.3 million in sales last year. Bartel Printing Adds Second POLAR Cutter Bartel Printing Company recently installed its second POLAR 92 X cutter to speed up production in the bindery. The new cutter, which complements an existing POLAR cutter and EuroBind 1200 binder, is used to finish product inserts. Bartel Printing services local businesses, medical offices and churches. The Warsaw, Ind.-based company has been serving its community since 1970 and houses five employees. Clark’s Litho Installs Two-Color Speedmaster CD 74 to Meet Customer Demand Clark’s Litho, Inc., located in Chantilly, Va., recently installed a Speedmaster CD 74 press with high-pile delivery and the Prinect CP2000 Center to fulfill growing customer demand. The shop is using the new two-color press to print pocket folders, annual reports, saddle-stitch booklets and brochures at approximately 13,000 impressions per hour. Founded in 1993, Clark’s Litho is a mid-sized, privately-owned general commercial printer that houses 15 employees. The shop services clients such as graphic design houses, associations, law firms and advertising agencies located in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Claxton Office Supply & Printing Increases Production With Printmaster PM 52 Claxton Office Supply & Printing, located in Claxton, Ga., recently added a new Printmaster PM 52 to its shop for production of its two- and four-color print jobs. This new press was installed alongside a two-color Heidelberg Printmaster QM 46 and a Duosetter. This general commercial printer services both regional and national clients and specializes in a full range of print offerings including stationery, newsletters and brochures. The shop hopes to grow its business with the new addition of the Printmaster PM 52. Claxton Office Supply & Printing was founded in 1973 and houses six employees. DeSoto Printing Boosts Bindery Production With New POLAR 92 XT Cutter DeSoto Printing in Fort Payne, Ala., recently installed a POLAR XT cutter to replace an older POLAR model. The commercial print shop uses the postpress equipment to finish books, manuals and directories for regional businesses and civic organizations. The equipment, which enables DeSoto to store programs and change blades quickly, has positively impacted the company’s productivity. Founded in 1980, this 35,000 sq. ft. family-owned facility is a general commercial printer that houses 22 employees. Discount Labels, Inc. Installs Two New Printmaster Presses Discount Labels, Inc. recently installed two new Printmaster QM 46 offset presses to increase productivity. With the new press in place, the shop’s productivity rates have increased to 10,000 impressions per hour. In addition, the Printmaster QM 46 has saved the shop time and expenses due to its quick changeover and high-quality results. Discount Labels, Inc. specializes in creating pressure sensitive labels, but also produces business cards and letter heads on the new equipment. This shop was founded 35 years ago and is a part of the larger corporation, CENVEO. Doran & Ward Printing Co. Adds New Press, Postpress Equipment from Heidelberg Doran & Ward Printing Co. recently upgraded its equipment with the installation of a two-color Printmaster QM 46 press, a Stitchmaster ST 90 stitcher, a jogger, a remarketed POLAR 78 ED cutter and the first POLAR BTL bander in the United States. The new press is being used to produce small runs of two-color commercial work at 8,000 impressions per hour and has increased the shop’s capacity. With the new bindery equipment, Doran & Ward has increased its volume, efficiency and quality of work. Founded in 1952, Doran & Ward is a large, family-owned printer that houses 100 employees. The shop is located in Burlington, Iowa and services local and national clients in the packaging industry. Franklin Printing Increases Efficiencies with POLAR 115XT Cutter Franklin Printing of Farmington, Maine, recently added a POLAR 115 XT cutter with transomat and jogger to its postpress department. Since the installation, the shop has increased efficiencies significantly and eliminated a laborer from the bindery. The Piccadilly Printing Company Installs POLAR 78X Cutter from Heidelberg The Piccadilly Printing Company, based in Winchester, Va., upgraded its bindery equipment by adding a POLAR 78X cutter. The small general commercial printer is using the new cutter to finish business cards, annual reports, posters, labels, letterhead, and more. The POLAR cutter is the company’s first purchase from Heidelberg. Smith Printing Increases Production with Two-Color Printmaster QM 46 Smith Printing of Natchez, Miss., has increased production and reduced waste with the recent installation of a two-color Printmaster QM 46 press from Heidelberg. The shop is using the new press to produce two-color, spot-color and multi-color work like business cards, envelopes, letterhead and forms. Smith Printing is a small, general commercial printer specializing in quick print and general commercial two-up work. Founded in 1972, the shop is family-owned and operated and it services a diverse client base with customers in southwest Mississippi and eastern Louisiana. The Printmaster QM 46 is Smith Printing’s first Heidelberg press. Vital Printing Expands Capabilities with New Four-Color Press from Heidelberg Vital Printing, located in West Palm Beach, Fla., recently installed a four-color Printmaster PM 74 press with perfector. The new press replaces a two-color Printmaster PM 74 and is being used to print small pocket folders, brochures, fliers and inserts. Since the installation, the shop’s production level has increased by approximately 15 percent and overtime has decreased significantly.
