ORIS Color Tuner Delivers Superior Results at Third Annual IPA Proofing RoundUP

Press release from the issuing company

Minneapolis, MN (June 17, 2005) -- To no one’s surprise, CGS’ contract proofing system, ORIS Color Tuner, delivered top results at the third annual Proofing RoundUP, conducted by IPA at its annual Technical Conference. Running on the Epson Stylus Pro 4000 and the Canon W2200, ORIS Color Tuner produced excellent CMYK and spot color results, in both measured values and visual evaluation, as well as best performance in the critical area of visual spot color performance. Both ORIS systems placed in the top four when both average and maximum values are considered. Maximum Delta-E variance is critical for shadow detail reproduction. ORIS’ excellent Delta-E results were produced by using the product’s Automatic Color Match (ACM) and automatic printer calibration. ORIS’ winning results in visual spot color evaluation are especially important for designers using the Pantone color system. The visual test consisted of 11 Pantone colors, including both solids and tints -- which are often hard to match. Commercial and packaging printers have been particularly pleased with ORIS’ ability to proof Pantone spot and Hexachrome colors, including their tint values. According to one customer attending the event, the IPA results confirmed his decision to go with ORIS. “We had looked at a number of proofing systems, including many being shown here. These results confirm what we had already discovered, that ORIS produces the best results, at the best price, and with the least hassle.” The annual IPA proofing comparison has become a watershed event for proofing system evaluation. This year, 20 hard copy proofing systems from 10 vendors were examined. Of these, 13 were statistically even, with a measured average Delta-E variance of less than 1.2, and were all within 0.5 Delta-E of each other. The instrument repeatability variance for CMYK measurement was 0.29 Delta-E.
