New Crescendo Portfolio Showcases Aesthetics and Printability of C1S Packaging and Graphics Board

Press release from the issuing company

STAMFORD, CONN. (June 24, 2005) - MeadWestvaco’s Packaging Resources Group has introduced a new portfolio highlighting both the packaging and graphic benefits of its popular Crescendo coated one side paperboard. The portfolio, which includes both an envelope and folder, also contains a perforated full-color sample carton that can be easily removed and assembled to illustrate Crescendo’s performance for packaging needs. The carton shows a bright, floral image that is printed using four-color, spot UV, holographic and silver foil, with emboss and blind deboss techniques also represented. Unprinted white sheets in various grammages are also included in the portfolio. The full portfolio contains complete manufacturing target information, including basis weights or grammages, thickness, calipers, internal bond scores and moisture and stiffness levels for Crescendo in five languages. With information in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, the new portfolio uses the uncoated side of Crescendo on the exterior to show the substrate’s excellent backside printability. Its diamond-shaped pattern shows emboss and blind deboss with spot UV processes and silver foil lamination, and its bright fuchsia coated interior demonstrates how well Crescendo works with dazzling colors. “This portfolio demonstrates how the color vibrancy and fidelity of Crescendo give a first-rate look to diverse jobs, from perfume cartons to annual reports,” comments Andrew H. Luke, director of marketing, packaging and specialty for MeadWestvaco. “The pieces highlight Crescendo’s visual and tactile benefits, which will help printers, converters and premium product manufacturers see the outstanding print reproduction and remarkable aesthetics capable when using this paperboard.” Crescendo: Maximum Impact for Graphics and Packaging An ideal choice for luxury packaging, Crescendo is used for fine fragrances, cosmetics, confections and spirits. Since its launch two years ago, this premium GZ/SBS paperboard has gained recognition for its exceptional whiteness, remarkable brightness and luxurious smoothness. Crescendo produces vibrant, eye-catching colors and caters to high-end finishing processes, from foil stamping and fine embossing to film and foil lamination. Because of its true-to-life graphic reproduction qualities, Crescendo is also perfect for a wide range of print jobs such as greeting cards, postcards, book covers and corporate literature. With its smooth, consistent surface, Crescendo exhibits superior on-press performance, running fast and clean on printing, converting and filling equipment without problems common to competitive grades, such as dusting and cracking. Crescendo also offers more bulk than competitive sheets in the higher basis weights, providing more yield and a stronger package. In addition to giving the job the right look, Crescendo is available for immediate delivery. “MeadWestvaco’s global network allows for on-time availability and visual consistency from London to Los Angeles,” adds Claire Mateo, business development manager, Europe. “Local, personalized service partners ensure that every board performs in ways that maximize production efficiencies.” To receive additional information on Crescendo or to request sample cartons, please contact Andrew Luke at +1 203 461 7642 or [email protected] in the U.S. or Claire Mateo at +32 27 75 97 55 or [email protected] in Europe.
