PPA Expands ORIS Color Tuner Accreditation

Press release from the issuing company

Hainburg, Germany (June 21, 2005) -- ORIS Color Tuner, CGS Publishing Technologies International’s award-winning contract proofing system, has garnered yet another first: the ISO-based proof4press certification on Epson’s popular Stylus Pro 7600 and 9600 printers. In April, Color Tuner was the first independent system to be accredited by the UK’s Periodical Publishing Association (PPA) on the Canon W2200. Now it is the first (and only) system to be approved on Epson devices. Proof4press is an independent magazine proofing standard, devised by the PPA, as a means of independently verifying the color accuracy of advertising and editorial pages. The ORIS/Epson test output, submitted by CGS’ UK partner, Colourbyte Europe, had to undergo a rigorous process of visual and measurement evaluation, before being formally approved. Colourbyte will provide free proof4press profiles on its web site, for any ORIS Color Tuner user who needs to output proofs on CGS media, in accordance with the PPA standard. Accreditation on the Epson 7600/9600 is a significant step. In recent years, both printers and publishers have widely adopted these units for high-quality contract proofing. (Such acceptance is due largely to the devices’ ability to achieve consistent, automatic color matches when using CGS software and paper.) CGS and Colourbyte are now in the process of obtaining proof4press approval for the increasingly popular Epson Stylus Pro 4000, and the newer 4800, 7800 and 9800.
