Integrated Color Solutions opens doors on ICS University

Press release from the issuing company

New York, NY; June 20, 2005 – By now, nearly everyone in the industry’s heard of remote proofing, but what does it really mean to do it and just how do you do it well? Integrated Color Solutions (ICS) – the industry leader in monitor proofing – is ready to explain all of that with the new ICS University. A series of free educational courses, ICS University aims to make remote proofing a much more common practice and put its power in the hands of more graphic arts professionals. “Successful implementation of new technology requires both operational and technical knowledge,” said John Sweeney, ICS vice president of sales and marketing. “Our customers have asked us to help them train and educate their customers and we’ve responded by offering this new series of educational and training sessions.” ICS University will include sessions geared for professionals already familiar with monitor-based remote proofing, as well as sessions designed for novices who are just learning about the technology. The training will be offered via the Internet as well as on-site. ICS University begins, of course, with Remote Director 101. All of the courses are free and participants are only required to download the Remote Director software, available free from www.icscolor.com. Designed as an introduction to Remote Director, Remote Director 101 will cover logging in and opening a proof, calibrating a monitor, requesting and taking editing control, making annotations, printing and using the job’s history and providing legal sign-off. Other courses will be added later this year and will include: • Remote Director – Expert Proof Maker • Color Management 101 • Implementing Monitor Proofing in Your Pressroom • Editing and Managing ICC Profiles • Promotion and Sales of Remote Director to Print Buyers Remote Director is ICS’ patented monitor-based proofing system that allows multiple users in remote locations to view and collaborate on proofs without having to leave their offices. Users are able to view proofs online, while making changes to both color and content. Remote Director eliminates the need for multiple physical proofs, while also erasing the constraints of geographical borders. “Publishing companies across the globe are quickly moving to an all-digital workflow, eliminating the use of hard proofs,” added Sweeney. “Those printers unable to implement this new technology will soon be left behind.” For more information on ICS University and to sign up for current courses, please visit www.icscolor.com or call (212) 683-0585.
