Press release from the issuing company

DENVER - June 9, 2005 - Today Quark announced that effective immediately, Kamar Aulakh is no longer with the company. Linda Chase, senior vice president of commerce product development, has been appointed by the Board of Directors as acting president of the company on an interim basis. The company has initiated a search for a CEO to bring professional outside leadership. Quark has retained executive search firm Christian & Timbers to lead the search. Ms. Chase, with over 20 years in the publishing industry, has been leading the QuarkCommerce business unit since 1998, and has worked closely with the leadership of the company across many aspects of the business. She will continue in her current role while serving as acting president. These announcements do not affect the solid financial position, day-to-day operations or Quark’s commitment to its customers.
