Atlantic Press orders new Goss C550 insert press

Press release from the issuing company

June 6th, 2005 - The superior color printing quality and high-productivity of the Goss C550 insert press will enable leading insert printer, Atlantic Press, to target high-end customers in the retail industry. The purchase of a four-unit Goss C550 heatset press with 21” cut-off is part of the printer’s ongoing expansion, and will be installed in July at a new plant in Bedford Park, Illinois. Bob Skubic, Corporate Secretary of Atlantic Press relates, “We currently work predominantly for clients within the grocery and hardware markets and have identified a distinct growth opportunity within the high-end commercial printing sector. Our new second plant will house the Goss C550 press, and will facilitate the drive into this new market. The purchase of the new press has already secured us some strong prospects with leading high-quality retailers.” Atlantic Press has also invested in a Goss C700 folder for increased speed and efficiency, enabling the printer to produce up to 65,000 copies an hour. Skubic explains, “We have always found the Goss folders incredibly reliable and efficient, and have continued to use them in a variety of press line configurations in the past. The speed of the new folder will ensure we can meet the demands of our targeted, high-end customers who require fast turnarounds of long-run, high-quality inserts often in multiple page booklets.” Having experienced other suppliers’ insert presses in the past, Atlantic Press has once more returned to its original preferred brand - Goss. Skubic confirms, “We needed a press of magnitude, a press that we could be assured would meet the higher quality expectations of fashion retailers, department stores and quality furnishers who place a distinct emphasis on the need for consistently high standards of color. The Goss C550 press was the ideal solution to take our business forward, we anticipate the new press will increase our production by up to 70 percent.” The Goss C550 press is part of the C500 insert press range, and delivers a very high level of color printing with a heatset facility for rapid drying of glossy inserts and inline gluing for efficient production of booklets and leaflets. The press has been designed for minimal manual handling and greater color control, making it ideally suited to the high-end commercial insert market. Atlantic Press, established in 1926 as a newspaper printer and publisher, has evolved into a leading full-service insert printer with expertise spanning from design and concept, pre-press and production through to distribution. The business currently operates from its site in Bedford Park but the addition of its second plant, with three times the capacity, reflects the company’s strategy for extensive expansion. Don Palotto, Director, Single Width & Insert Sales, North America at Goss International concludes, “Atlantic Press has recognized the three major benefits of the Goss C550 insert press - superb color printing quality, capacity for high-volume production and ease of operation for increased efficiency. For printers targeting the lucrative high-end commercial insert market, this is a powerful combination.”
