KBA North America Installs Rapida 162a 64-inch at Cenveo's Toledo Plant

Press release from the issuing company

June 1, 2005 -- KBA North America, a leading sheetfed offset press manufacturer based in Williston, Vt., is announcing that Cenveo’s sheetfed printer based in Toledo, Ohio, has installed a large format Rapida 162a 64-inch six-color sheetfed press with aqueous coating and hybrid UV capabilities as well as an extended delivery. The new press was delivered in January 2005 and will be ready to print commercially this spring. “The KBA’s speed, ability to handle very large sheet sizes, and ability to print on thicker substrates will allow us to better serve our customers’ needs with reduced runtimes and flexible paper options,” says Chuck Delaney, regional vice president of the central region for Cenveo. Before Cenveo purchased the KBA Rapida 162a, the printer spent a considerable amount of time using stringent comparison methods to evaluate all of the press manufacturers and their models. “We looked at service, we interviewed other printers about a press manufacturer’s track record, we looked at pricing, and we evaluated the other press models that a press manufacturer offered. We felt that KBA came out on top and we liked the fact that we could move up or down in their press line from a 74 Karat to the extra large format Rapida 205 81-inch press.” “We were finding that our customers had a need for larger press capabilities,” explains Delaney.  “With an increased need for this work, we decided to add the KBA press to further our capacity and meet the needs of current customers. We believe in investing in new equipment to differentiate ourselves from the competition, to stay abreast of industry trends, and to respond to local or national customer needs.”
