Xerox gives print providers a competitive edge with new industry tools, remote services support

Press release from the issuing company

PHILADELPHIA, PA, May 18 - Xerox Corporation is expanding its customer support with a set of tools and digital print samples to help commercial printers boost their business in 10 key markets from banking to education. Xerox has also expanded its remote services to several black-and-white and highlight-colour production printers. The service provides real-time help that optimizes machine performance and resolves issues quickly. The ProfitAccelerator(TM) Vertical Market Kit is the latest sales and marketing resource within ProfitAccelerator, a program that helps customers increase their return on investments in Xerox digital printing technology. The kit contains information, templates and source files for sample applications that print sales representatives can use with potential clients in the hospitality, association, retail, real estate, insurance, life sciences, banking, higher education, healthcare and automotive industries. ProfitAccelerator tools, including the Vertical Market Kit, will be displayed as part of a "Wall of Profit" in Xerox's booth at the AIIM/On Demand Conference and Exposition, May 17-19 in Philadelphia. Xerox Expands Remote Services Building on the success of the remote services program for the Xerox iGen3(R) Digital Production Press, Xerox is providing enhanced monitoring and maintenance for the Xerox Nuvera(TM) 100/120 Digital Copier/Printers, Xerox Nuvera 100/120 Digital Production Systems and the DocuTech(R) 128/155/180 HighLight Color systems. "Xerox shares in our customers' drive for success - these services are a true partnership in productivity," said Quincy Allen, president, Xerox Production Systems Group. "We provide our expertise and worldwide support resources to help make a customer's operation the best it can be." Xerox specialists monitor the equipment through Internet connections and collect data to help identify and resolve issues faster, often in less time than it would take to send a service person to the site. New remote desktop sharing capabilities allow Xerox, when authorized by a machine's owner, to remotely access the system to assist a customer with a specific issue. Industry-leading security measures - Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocols and 128-bit encryption - ensure that information is safely transmitted between the machine and Xerox specialists. Tucker Printers in Rochester, N.Y., part of Consolidated Graphics, uses remote services for its Xerox iGen3 press. According to Dan Tucker, president, Tucker Printers, Xerox's remote services detected a software problem related to colour registration before the job was printed, saving him the time and money it would have cost to reprint it. "In today's business climate of fast job turnaround times and demanding customer needs, it gives me peace of mind to have proactive services and preventive maintenance to minimize down time and keep my digital press running," said Tucker. Availability The ProfitAccelerator Vertical Market Kit is available worldwide starting June 1 through Xerox sales representatives. Additional information on Xerox remote service offerings can be obtained through Xerox sales representatives.
