New Xerox DocuShare Solutions Catalog

Press release from the issuing company

PHILADELPHIA--May 13, 2005-- People in healthcare, government, education and other business sectors often struggle to comply with industry regulations, get documents digitized, manage documents hosted on the Internet, and meet other document-related challenges. But Xerox Corporation is providing an answer: the DocuShare Partner Solutions Catalogue. It provides, in a single location, an online resource of solutions available from authorized Xerox DocuShare Business Partners that can address pressing needs for enterprise content management applications using Xerox's leading ECM software, called DocuShare. The value of having a customized DocuShare Partner solution is apparent for customers like Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City, where administrators use a DocuShare application to address critical Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements for managing patient privacy acknowledgements. They use an automated process integrating Xerox hardware and software with a reseller solution available in the catalog. Xerox WorkCentre Pro multifunction products scan hardcopy, signed acknowledgements from patients, and a custom imaging solution from DocuShare partner Polgroup Corp. automatically routes the acknowledgements into the DocuShare system, which is integrated with Weill's Oracle database. In addition to storing an image of the signed form, the system extracts patient data directly from the form, so that it can be exported into the college's patient scheduling system for instant availability. DocuShare is linked into the central directory server so authorized staff and physicians can immediately access a patient's privacy acknowledgement from any Windows or Macintosh computer at the medical center. "Meeting requirements established by the HIPAA privacy rule would not be possible without an effective document-management system," said Dr. Steven Erde, senior director of the office of academic computing and chief security officer at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. "Deploying this DocuShare-based solution helped us to meet a time-sensitive regulatory deadline and automate a resource-intensive process, scanning up to 1,500 forms per day and giving automatic, secure access to patient privacy forms to our staff members." "DocuShare systems integrators are working closely with our customers to build the solutions they need, as shown by the range of 24 applications now available in the catalog," said David Smith, vice president and general manager, Xerox DocuShare Business Unit. "These partners deliver considerable value to Xerox as well, extending the capabilities of DocuShare and integrating it into industry-specific and line-of-business applications." The catalog describes current solutions from partners in North America and Europe. These systems integrators, solution providers and value-added resellers can work with companies to solve content-management challenges across several areas, including regulatory compliance, print-shop integration, workflow applications, document imaging, hosting, e-forms integration, AutoCAD management, Internet publishing for government Electronic Freedom of Information Act initiatives, hospital-contract management and HIPAA compliancy, e-commerce shopping cart tools, and more. As more partners develop DocuShare-based applications and make them available, the catalog will grow. It can be accessed at http://docushare.xerox.com/catalogue. The DocuShare Business Partner program enables resellers to build and deliver unique solutions, serving Xerox sales channels and the growing customer base of more than 4,000 DocuShare customers. The Partner Solutions Catalogue documents existing applications and describes which industries they serve, what benefits they offer, and how they helped actual companies to solve a business challenge. Xerox DocuShare is a secure, Web-based enterprise content management software application that leads the industry in being easy to use, easy to deploy and affordable to buy. It is designed to meet the content-management needs of any office, from a small workgroup up to a global enterprise with thousands of workers and millions of documents. The Xerox DocuShare Partner Solutions Catalogue and DocuShare 4.0 will be displayed in Xerox booth No. 1601 at the AIIM/On Demand Conference and Exposition, an industry trade show held May 17-19 in Philadelphia.
