Press release from the issuing company

PARAMUS, N.J., MAY 11, 2005 – Jesse Williamson, president of Williamson Printing Corp., Dallas, Texas, has been named the 2005 Sheetfed Executive of the Year by the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) and Printing Industries of America (PIA)/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF). The award will be presented to Williamson during the annual NAPL • PIA/GATF Sheetfed Pressroom Conference in Chicago, at a special luncheon sponsored by Heidelberg on Tuesday, June 14. Williamson is the 11th recipient of the award, created to honor a sheetfed printing industry leader who had demonstrated exceptional service, initiative, and commitment to his or her community, company, and the sheetfed printing industry. “Jesse is recognized by his industry peers as someone who has made significant contributions to the advancement of graphic communications, particularly in the sheetfed area. His contribution to Williamson Printing over the past 25 years, and to the industry at large, has been substantial. I know of no one more deserving of this honor,” said Jerry Williamson, chairman of the Board of Williamson Printing Corp., who nominated Williamson for the award. Jesse Williamson embodies the principles the award judging committee seeks in its review process, including embracing new technology, developing the industry’s current and future workforce, active involvement in trade associations, and a commitment to community service. A graduate of Southern Methodist University, Williamson joined Williamson Printing fulltime in 1970 as a sales representative, assuming the presidency of the 400-employee sheetfed/web printing company in 1985. During his tenure, he’s been instrumental in the company’s acquisition of the latest sheetfed equipment to secure its position as a technologically advanced company. He has applied his technological know-how to benefit the industry as a whole through the invention or co-invention of several important and innovative patented printing techniques. These include PackMAG, a magazine and direct mail insert carrier, WIMS, a process for integrating metallic inks with process color; Litholux, enabling flexo printing and coating insterstation on sheetfed offset presses, and GloKote, a process for applying glow-in-the-dark slurry on offset presses. As president of Williamson Printing, Williamson is committed to ongoing process improvement, reflected in the company’s ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification. An active participant in industry trade associations, Williamson is a member of NAPL’s Soderstrom Society and has been a speaker/panelist at numerous conferences for PIA/GATF, the Dallas Society of Visual Communications (DSVC), and AIGA, the professional association for communications design. His extensive involvement in community and charitable organizations includes serving on the Board of the American Cancer Society-Cattle Baron’s Ball, and membership in the North Texas Commission—Community Service.
