C2 Media buys a Xeikon 5000 digital color press

Press release from the issuing company

Itasca, IL & New York City, NY- May 04, 2005 - Xeikon America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Punch International, announces the purchase of a Xeikon 5000 digital color press by New York City - based C2 Media, Inc. - a leading supplier of digital media graphics solutions. C2 Media, with offices in seven locations in the US and Canada, offers an extremely wide range of print applications - indoor and outdoor signage, postcards, window displays, murals, promotional pieces and transit graphics among others. On a more strategic level, the company focuses on providing exceptional customer service and rapid delivery of high quality digital color prints. According to Kristof Vereenooghe, President, Xeikon America, "C2 Media has further strengthened its digital printing capabilities with the purchase of the Xeikon 5000. At present, it is the only company in New York City that would be able to utilize the unique capabilities of the Xeikon system - unmatched productivity, superior print quality, ability to handle duty cycles of up to 3 million pages/month and low total cost of operation." An experienced player in the digital printing arena, C2 Media's entire workflow and print output is digital. With a rapid increase in the number of variable data print job requests, C2 Media initiated its search for a suitable digital engine vendor. Apart from researching all the available digital printing options in the market, the company also spent a lot of time assessing the operations of successful variable data print providers in the US and Europe. According to David Manning, President, C2 Media, "We chose the Xeikon 5000 because of its powerful X-800 digital front end and its variable data printing capabilities. In addition, we were impressed with the ability of the Xeikon 5000 to print on an exceptionally wide range of substrates from 27 lb. text to 16 pt. stock and the unique Xeikon format - 20 in. wide and unlimited length." C2 Media will use the Xeikon 5000 for its variable data printing needs as well as retail POP/POS applications. The Xeikon 5000 is the first digital color press which really succeeds in combining the best of both worlds: consistent and high image quality both for short print runs as well as for runs of several million copies plus unparalleled productivity. The Xeikon 5000 also scores particularly high in terms of user friendliness and efficiency: toner can be added during a print run and press registration and calibration are automated. The new digital front end, the X-800, offers an enhanced toolbox for rapid and optimum workflow automation and integration resulting from the implementation of open standards. The X-800 has been developed with high productivity in mind: the controller is able to easily process print jobs incorporating complex graphics with variable data from over 1 million records. "With the Xeikon 5000, C2 Media will further enhance its competitive advantage by broadening its array of digitally printed products," adds Manning.
