Friday, April 29, 2005
Package printing specialists who want to adopt the latest print production workflows to improve their products, and commercial printers diversifying into folding carton, label and other converting businesses will both find valuable sessions among the 80-plus educational seminars being presented this September by PRINT 05 & CONVERTINGSM 05. The show, the largest commercial, package printing, and converting event in the world in 2005, takes place September 9-15 at the McCormick Place Complex. This year, the perennial mega-show PRINT 05 includes CONVERTING 05, created expressly to address the increasing convergence of these industries. Label printers, folding carton converters, and other package printing specialists will find a variety of both technical and business seminars on the educational program, including: • Trends In Converting And Package Printing, presented by Yolanda Simonsis, editor of Paper, Film & Foil Converter magazine. • Color Control Of Flexo-Printed Film, with Bill Pope of RIT. • The State Of Printing And Converting In The United States, a special brunch session presented by RIT Prof. Frank Romano. • Innovations And Trends In Foil Stamping And Embossing, with Jeff Peterson, executive director of the Foil Stamping and Embossing Association. • Improve Your Printing Of Folding Cartons, with Ray Prince of PIA/GATF. • The Package Printing Industry -- What The Numbers Show, with consultant John Zarwan. • Digital Printing For Package Printing, with Prof. Frank Romano, R.I.T. • A Fresh Perspective On Package Printing, with John Windle of State Street Consultants. • The Flexo Market -- The Profits Nobody Wanted, with Prof. Frank Romano, R.I.T. “Any trade show that really serves its audiences must offer both current technical and business knowledge, presented by recognized authorities in their fields, and the latest products and technology developments, presented by the foremost vendors,” says Regis J. Delmontagne, president of the show’s manager, the Graphic Arts Show Company (GASC). “PRINT 05 & CONVERTING 05 will meet visitors’ high expectations on both counts,” he adds. Additionally, to extend the learning experience even further, and to offer attendees a directed sneak preview of the future and of what they will find on the show floor, GASC will present the day-before-the-show conference, EXECUTIVE OUTLOOK. This full day conference, featuring a review of key technologies shown on the floor, includes an announcement of the MUST SEE ‘EMSSM award, an honor bestowed on products that demonstrate innovation or technological advancements, that show attendees simply must see. Banners designating MUST SEE ‘EMS status will be displayed in the recipients’ booths, making them easier to find. A large number of companies have announced plans to exhibit converting, package printing equipment and related products at the show. Among the largest of these exhibitors at PRINT 05 & CONVERTING 05 are Bobst Group with 6,000 square feet, Sun Chemical with 3,600 square feet, Colter & Peterson with 3,000, Korber Paperlink with 5,400, Bielomatic Jagenberg and CG Machinery at over 2,000 each, and Can-Am Packaging at 1,200.
